- Modine stars alongside Brown in Stranger Things
- Brown is engaged to Jake Bongiovi, actor and son of rock star Jon Bon Jovi
- Modine has a licence to carry out weddings and Brown and Bongiovi thought it would be “great” for him to officiate
Veteran actor Matthew Modine is set to officiate at the upcoming wedding of his Stranger Things co-star Millie Bobbie Brown, he has revealed.
Speaking to Access Daily, Modine said that Brown had found out that he possessed a licence that allows him to officiate at weddings and thought it would be “great” if he could take the reigns at her upcoming wedding to Jake Bongiovi – who agreed on the idea.
Modine, 65, added that he has already penned the wedding vows for the pair, who “loved” what he has written.
Brown, 20, and Bongiovi, 21 – the son of rock legend Jon Bon Jovi, have been an item since 2021, and were engaged in 2023. At the time, Brown posted a picture of herself with Bongiovi on Instagram with the caption: “I’ve loved you three summers now, honey, I want ‘em all.”
Modine plays Dr Martin Brenner in Stranger Things. In the first season, Brenner was the man in charge of Hawkins Laboratory and training Brown’s character Eleven – who refers to him as ‘Papa’ – before she escapes. He then spent much of the season trying to hunt her down.
The fifth and final season of Stranger Things is currently in production, having been held up by the Hollywood strikes. Brown has been confirmed to reprise her role, but whether Modine’s character will reappear is more uncertain – not least because it is assumed that he is dead. However, Dr Brenner has been assumed dead before and returned and, as we all know, pretty much anything is possible in the world of Stranger Things.
