In a huge selfie from the Met Gala, internet users have claimed they do not know who anyone is. The 2025 event, which took place on 5 May, is not the place for phones anyway.

Anna Wintour organizes the event each year with a strict no-phones policy inside. This is because Wintour wants to keep the secrecy and exclusivity of the event. For context, the Met Gala is invite-only and for brands to buy a table, a ticket costs $75,000.

Some celebrities have already broken the no-phone rule, with rapper Megan Thee Stallion posting a video from inside the event where she was with other celebrities. Other celebrities, including actress Laura Harrier, broke the rules by taking a huge selfie inside.

However, online users saw the photo and claimed they did not know who anyone in the photo is. See the story here.

What happened with the Met Gala selfie?

Harrier was front and center in the middle of the selfie and was the one to take the shot, which looks like it is in a bathroom mirror. Regardless, the internet seemed to come to the same conclusion: They don’t know who is in the photos.

Ouch.

Here is the selfie in question.

Who are you people?

Many internet users were confused by the people in the picture. One user asked on X, “Does anyone know a single person in this pic?”

Judging by the replies, it doesn’t seem like it.

“If you can name one person in this photo…. Go touch grass lol,” one user advised.

In response to the post of the photo, one user savagely commented, “Without any famous people”.

Well, the internet does not hold back.

On another note, one user posted a bathroom selfie from the Met Gala 2017, which featured both of the Jenner sisters, Kim Kardashian, A$AP Rocky, and well…Diddy, among others.

Let’s just ignore that last one.

Their post with the attached photo was captioned, “The downgrade is insane”.

One user joked, “This Met Gala bathroom selfie looks like the cast of a reality show called ‘Who Invited Us?’ Premiering on Bravo next fall”.

Savage, but a good joke.

Do you not watch TV?

However, one user had a different opinion. They said If you watch TV, you’d know “at least three of these,” referring to the celebrities in the picture.

Some of the comments identified specific people in successful television and movie projects. Many people recognized Harrier from Spider-Man: Homecoming and another actor from Sherlock, for example.

Still, fame and ‘celebrity’ are subjective, as some people may consider others celebrities when others do not.
