A mother who cracked an egg on her child’s head has been convicted in court. In a video from TikTok in 2023, the 24-year-old from Helsingborg, Sweden, followed the trend of cracking an egg on her daughter’s head.

Since it was a worldwide trend, many parents followed without batting an eye, deeming it harmless. However, in the case of the Helsingborg mom, her video had a bigger prize in the eyes of the law.

Yes, in April 2025, she was convicted of harassment for her video. The reason she received this conviction is because it was deemed she did it to bring amusement to her viewers and, by default, ‘humiliated’ her daughter.

What happened to the mother?

Yes, there was a conviction for the mom for the prank video. In her defence, she claimed it was just a fun prank as part of the trend, but the strict judge did not see it that way.

If you’re wondering about the video, the mom is unnamed, so it is not available. However, what happens in the video is that she tells her daughter they are going to bake a cake, and when she gets excited and ready, she cracks the egg on the child’s head.

In response, the upset child tells her mother to stop, as she laughs at the incident.

How she got charged, you ask? One person who saw the video reported it to the police.

As a result, the police launched an investigation into what became a harassment case.

Here is one of the examples of the trend.

That’s degrading, said the prosecutor

The prosecutor in the case, Cecilia Andersson said to Sydsvenskan, “When I saw the video, I thought: you simply don’t do that to a child. To record and humiliate the child and then broadcast it to thousands of viewers – I find that incredibly degrading, and that’s my personal opinion”.

“It’s a little girl who thinks she’s going to bake an apple cake with her mom and is happy and excited about it, and then all of a sudden, she gets an egg cracked in her forehead. This is a reckless act,” Anderson argued to the television channel SVT.

Despite defending herself, the young mother was found guilty of harassment by Helsingborg District Court and was ordered to pay SEK 20,000 ($2070) to her daughter.

What an eggcellent outcome.
