Mountainhead is the new film by Succession creator Jesse Armstrong. The HBO film stars Steve Carell, Jason Schwartzman, Ramy Youssef and Cory Michael.

Plotwise, it is dubbed to tell the tale of a group of billionaire pals meeting up during a raging financial crisis.

With a scheduled release on HBO and Max on 31 May, the film recently released its trailer.

In the caption, it read, “Four friends. $371 billion net worth. Zero culpability.”

As it tends to do, the internet had their say about what the movie had in store for them.

The internet took a varied approach to the upcoming film. Some were excited, dubbing it “the Succession sequel we all knew we needed.”

“Oh I can’t wait,” another posted on X.

“Saving this for later,” another person chimed in.

Some suggested the conceit might be tired

Many thought the movie looked too similar to other properties from the premium cable channel.

Recently, HBO have had smash hits like The White Lotus and Billions. This is along with Armstrong’s media empire satire starring Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Snook and Kieran Culkin.

Someone asked, “Does the premise for every show have to revolve around insane wealth?”

Others were just not impressed with the snippet of Mountainhead

Many didn’t provide any reasoning for their initial dislike of the film while expressing their negative opinion.

Someone wrote, “looks good awful” with no rationale.

Another added that they couldn’t “get over how bad that mountainhead movie looks. i might simply look away out of respect for my good friend jesse.”
