- Naoe, Ubisoft’s fastest Assassin, offers gadget-driven stealth gameplay
- The game features dual characters—Naoe for stealth and Yasuke for action
- Assassin’s Creed Shadows launches February 14, 2025, with a feudal Japan setting

As the clock ticks down to the February release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, fans eagerly await the debut of Naoe, a shinobi Assassin, declared as the “Fastest assassin” by Ubisoft, will offer exhilarating stealth gameplay.
Naoe: The Ultimate Shinobi Experience
According to Ubisoft’s creative director Jonathan Dumont, Naoe is set to be
“the fastest Assassin we ever made. She runs super fast, she has a lot of gadgets to keep her stealthy so that she doesn’t have to fight often. We wanted to satisfy that for players that come in for that ninja-assassin game.”
“She does feel like a panther looking at her prey.”
The game is set in the period of feudal Japan and has been crafted as a way for players to experience the life of a shinobi, blending into shadows, and navigating through the country, the character of Naoe will allow players to bring out their inner shinobi.
He also shared brief insights about her origin story,
“She is pushed into war. She doesn’t know much about her origins. Her father’s been training her, but she doesn’t know much about her mother, who’s been gone” She will start a bit of a path of vengeance or fulfilling a promise that she made to her family.”
In a nod to anime culture, Dumont also revealed a playful detail: Naoe will perform a version of the iconic Naruto run, sprinting forward with her arms bent backward.
He further mentioned her gadget-driven gameplay— the use of Kunai and smoke bombs and the hidden blade, “the signature weapon of an Assassin”, is given by the father, and with an unfolding storyline players will learn about its significance.
Dual Characters, Dual Styles: Naoe vs. Yasuke
In a nutshell, she is going to be the best fit for offering stealth gameplay for fans who have been missing it in recent Assassins Creed installments. However, in contrast to Naoe, there is a second character— Yasuke, Dumont is described as,
“He doesn’t do the Leap of Faith,” He just crashes right into the haystack, and he hurts his butt, too. So, it’s pretty funny.”
With the presence of Yasuke along with the former assassin developers aim to satisfy both types of players: those who focus on the “stealth approach: hiding in the shadows and the crowd” and others who are “a little bit more of the action-oriented”
Mark your calendars for February 14, 2025, the game will be launched officially and players will finally be able to set out on an extensive Assassins Creed journey which they have been craving for.
