- Two video games are in development based on the 1978 horror classic
- John Carpenter, the director of the original film, is involved with the project
- One of the games is being developed in Unreal Engine 5

Exciting news for fans of horror video games and classic horror movies – two new games are being developed that are based on the 1978 classic film Halloween.
Original involvement
There are hopes that the games will stay close to the movie franchise as the producers of the films, including John Carpenter, who directed the original film, are on board with the developer, Boss Team Games, as reported by IGN. The developer has form in this genre, having worked on Evil Dead: The Game previously.
In a promo shot, showing a pumpkin face and hand holding the iconic knife used by Michael Myers, the tag line is ‘the night he comes to your home’.
A press release stated that games will be able to “relive moments from the film and play as classic characters from one of the most iconic and important horror films of all time.”
In a statement, Carpenter said that he is “intimately involved” in the game development. He added that as a “huge gamer myself, I’m thrilled to help bring Michael Myers to life again in this game, and my hope is to scare you silly.”
Early days
Details of the games are scant at the moment, but it has been confirmed that one of the games is being developed in Unreal Engine 5 – although it is still in its early stages. The games are being developed in association with Compass International Pictures and Further Front.
No release dates have been given, so we can assume that gamers are going to have to wait some time to have the pleasure of being chased by Michael Myers.
