Nike is planning to release a new kids’ sneaker in time for Halloween – but people have pointed to how it looks to be inspired by a certain superhero.

Trick or treat

Officially, the shoe is called the Nike Dunk Low Trick or Treat and will be released in time for Halloween and will be available only in grade school sizes. But the black design with spiderweb motif covering the grey toe-box and midsole, as well as reflective web-like detailing, has drawn comparisons to Spider-man. More specifically, seasoned sneaker watchers have said it bears resemblance to the Black Symbiote Suit, first seen back in 1984 when the alien symbiote took over Peter Parker and which has become iconic since then.

It should be noted that this is not an official collaboration between Nike and Marvel, but the sneaker will likely appeal to fans of the iconic superhero regardless.

Passing resemblance

This is not the first time that Nike has released Dunk Lows with a passing resemblance to everyone’s favorite neighbourhood superhero, according to Sneaker News. For instance, in 2023, another pair of kids’ Dunks was released in the colors of the classic Spider-Man suit.

Whatever the association – or not – of the Nike Dunk Low Trick or Treat, the sneaker is bound to create interest among kids and sneaker collectors alike. The shoe goes on sale in October – no specific date as yet – and will be priced at $100 and available in stores and the Nike website, according to Sole Retriever.
