- Nintendo Switch 2 features an 8-inch display with slim bezels
- Estimated 25% size increase; new Joy-Cons may not fit older models
- Full details, including specs and price, await Nintendo confirmation

Nintendo fans have finally got a glimpse of the most awaited Switch 2; the developers released a trailer on January 16, 2025, displaying the new, slightly different from its predecessors in terms of size, screen, and other aspects.
The company hasn’t revealed the detailed specifications and the console’s price, but here is the picture that has been painted through the relevant leaks, trailer, and CES 2025 mock-ups.
Bigger and Better Dimensions
As compared to the original Switch, this one seems bigger, the comparison can be done by keeping in view the Neon Blue and Neon Red Joy-Cons from the original model. Switch 2 is estimated to be 202mm wide and 115mm wide.
The upcoming console is estimated to be approximately 202mm wide and 115mm tall, a 25% increase in size to Switch 1, and comes with attached Joy-cons. That’s a 25% increase in size compared to its predecessor, which measured 239mm by 102mm with Joy-Cons attached.
In the trailer, the Joy-Cons appear to be a bit larger (about 13mm or half an inch more) but possess the same width as the original one, making them 13% bigger. Although Nintendo hasn’t confirmed it, these measurements suggest that old Joy-cons won’t fit right on the new console.
A Stunning 8-Inch Display
The Switch 2 offers an 8-inch screen, way larger than the Switch 1, which is 6.2 inches. The console, with Joy-Cons attached, is about 265mm (10.5 inches) wide and 115mm (4.5 inches) tall. The new console’s screen size is giving a competition to the other devices like Steam Deck OLED, offering 7.4 inch display.
As per leaks, Switch 2 will be using an LCD panel instead of an OLED. This aligns with remarks made by Omdia Research Manager Hiroshi Hayase while speaking to Bloomberg, who predicted the inclusion of an 8-inch display earlier in 2024.

Slim Bezels and Compact Design
Speaking of the (black borders) bezels, these are thinner around the screen, providing a modern look, while those on the sides are similar to Switch 1— 11mm on the sides, and the top and bottom are approximately 8mm each.
However, players need to remind themselves that these measurements are just estimates. Everything mentioned here still requires official confirmation from Nintendo. Meanwhile, through these insights fans can know what new console is bringing to the table.
