North West has announced that she is working on her debut album, and it will be called ‘Elementary School Dropout’.

The 10-year-old, eldest daughter of Kanye West and ex-wife Kim Kardashian, broke the news at a listening party for her father’s upcoming Vultures 2 album in Phoenix, Arizona. The news drew cheers from the crowd.

The album’s name is a reference to Kanye’s breakthrough debut album from 2004, ‘The College Dropout’, which established him as a global rap star.

At the listening party, North appeared on stage with her father for the track ‘Talking’ and performed on the track. Two of her siblings, Chicago and Psalm, also appeared with her, but they danced, rather than sang.

News that North is working on an album will come as little surprise to those who have been following her progress.

She has been featured rapping on TikTok posts and has discussed the possibility of embarking on a music career and ideas for music videos on posts in the past.

In addition, last month, North appeared in the video for ‘Talking/Once Again’ from her father’s ‘Vultures’ album and rapped a verse herself on the track – and includes the lyrics ‘its your bestie, Miss, Miss Westie. Don’t try to test me, its going to get messy.”

‘Talking’ appeared in the Billboard Hot 100 in February and therefore North became one of the youngest artists to make it onto the chart.

No further details of any tracks that might appear on the album, or a possible release date have yet been released. However, it is highly likely that her father will have a role in its production.

Kanye’s career is enjoying a renaissance currently, he recently became the first rapper in Billboard Hot 100 history to have a number one song in three different decades – the 2000s, 10s and 20s.
