- Capcom surprises fans with Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny remaster
- The game will feature visual upgrades but no major gameplay changes
- Launching in 2024 on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch

Capcom has officially announced that Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny is getting a remaster while it is working on the new title, Onimusha: Way of the Sword; fans who left the hope of seeing anything relevant regarding the Onimusha games are thrilled.
A Forgotten Gem Returns
The studio is well known for other iconic games like Resident Evil series and Devil May Cry. This news came at the end of Capcom’s latest Spotlight event, surprising the long-time fans. The Onimusha 2 was released in 2002 and gained immense popularity.
It did well in terms of sales and critical reviews. However, the game faced challenges as it stayed on old hardware for decades, and it became quite hard to stand in an era of advanced technology.
This isn’t the first time Capcom has created a remake for the Onimusha game; they remastered the Onimusha: Warlords and made it playable on modern platforms, but still, it didn’t go successful and experienced poor sales.
This developed doubts among the gaming community, and they started believing that the developers had abandoned the franchise and wouldn’t put effort into these games anymore.
Now, after an extensive break, the news of the remaster sounds like an unexpected surprise that every fan deserves. After seven years since the last remaster, Capcom has finally decided to bring back the sequel, proving that the Onimusha series still has a future.
The remaster is going to be released this year, but no exact date has been shared yet. The Onimusha 2 remaster is more likely to have visual upgrades and a more polished version of the game to please the modern-day audience.
Players are suggested not to expect the new features and gameplay changes, and this may disappoint some. Still, they will get to play the game on advanced systems.
New Look, Same Samurai Action
Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny takes players on an intense action-adventure journey. Players take on the role of Jubei Yagyu, a samurai who is capable of encountering the lethal Nobunaga and his forces.
The samurai set out on a journey to stop this evil from destroying everything. The game offers exploration and has an interactive environment, puzzles, and mysteries or secrets to discover.
What makes the game more intriguing is that it includes four playable characters, adding diversity to the game as each character has their own story. The game’s remaster will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
However, there won’t be any dedicated or special version release for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but through the backward compatibility players can still play it on these consoles.
