The Boys is set to get another spinoff series as Prime Video has snapped up Vought Rising.

Origin story

The show, which will be a prequel to the hit superhero series, will focus on the origins of Vought and will see Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash star as they reprise their roles of Solider Boy and Stormfront from The Boys.

Another member of The Boys team to be involved in the spinoff is executive producer Paul Grellong, who will serve as showrunner and executive producer.

When the show was launched at Comic-Con, an outline of the plotlines for the show was announced. It is billed as a twisted murder mystery set in the 1950s and will follow the early exploits of Solider Boy as well as Stormfront – who was then going by the name of Clara Vought.

“We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V,” said Grellong and Eric Kripke – developer and showrunner on The Boys – at Comic Con, as reported by Deadline.

Expanding universe

This is the latest expansion to The Boys universe. The main show has recently released its fourth season and its fifth and final season is in the works. Then there is Gen V, which follows the lives of superheroes in college, which is currently filming its second season. There is also the animated The Boys Presents: Diabolical, as well as the upcoming The Boys: Mexico.

Ackles is set for a busy time with The Boys related work. Not only will he be starring in the Vought Rising, but he will also be rejoining the regular cast of The Boys for its final season, having made his comeback to the show in the final episode of season four.
