Exact details of his character are yet to be confirmed but the star has given us plenty of clues lately – enough to convince his 28 Years Later bosses to “politely” ask him to stop dishing out spoilers.
“I’m not allowed to say anything!” says 28 Years Later star Ralph Fiennes
Deadline caught up with Fiennes during this weekend’s SAG Awards and cornered him about Boyle’s new movie. Unfortunately, the actor stopped them in their tracks with a wry smile.
“Im not allowed to say anything, it’s big secrets,” smiled the star when asked for clues.

“I’ve been given all these guidelines on what I should and shouldn’t say.
“I did say something about a technical aspect and I got a missive saying ‘you can’t say this!'” laughed Fiennes, a little bashfully.
When asked if he received an angry email, he responded by saying “It wasn’t angry. It was very polite but respectful saying ‘could you please not mention such and such…’”
Despite being sworn to secrecy, Fiennes did spill some beans – most of which we’d already heard before.
“It’s 28 years later from the first one with Cillian and it’s the idea that the infected have taken over the UK and who has survived, who hasn’t, how did people survive and there’s a community who are not infected and that community is the starting off point to the story,” he explained.
Fiennes added that people from this community venture out into the “danger zone,” opening the story up to new elements.
He concluded by saying “It’s a kind of Odyssey.”
What has Ralph Fiennes said about 28 Years Later?

Before this encounter, Fiennes was relatively loose-lipped regarding the movie’s plot during a chat with IndieWire.
“Britain is 28 years into this terrible plague of infected people who are violent, rabid humans with a few pockets of uninfected communities. And it centres on a young boy who wants to find a doctor to help his dying mother.”
He continued, adding “He leads his mother through this beautiful northern English terrain. But of course, around them hiding in forests and hills and woods are the infected. But he finds a doctor who is a man we might think is going to be weird and odd, but actually is a force for good.”
28 Years Later is a direct follow up to Boyle’s 2002 horror thriller 28 Days Later which starred Cillian Murphy. Murphy returns as a producer alongside original film director Boyle and screenwriter Alex Garland. However, the Peaky Blinders star isn’t expected to feature in 28 Years Later.
Instead, he could appear in the movie’s sequel, 28 Years Later Part 2: The Bone Temple, which filmed back-to-back with Boyle’s new instalment.
