- The fourth Bridget Jones movie, Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy will release in February 2025
- Renee Zellweger has played the role since 2001
- Zellweger has teased there could be more Bridget Jones movies

We may be getting spoiled with another Bridget Jones movie, and we’re not talking about Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy. The first reactions from critics are out, and the film will be in cinemas on February 14. Reportedly, Renée Zellweger has teased we could get more Bridget Jones movies in the future…sort of. The pop culture smash hit has been on our screens since 2001. The series is based on the novel series by Helen Fielding. The first book came out in 1996.
More Bridget Jones?
The book series by Fielding has four novels, all of which are followed by the movies. Currently she hasn’t written a fifth novel, which could spark the inspiration for a fifth book or more Bridget Jones movies. Maybe the Bridget Jones universe could expand to material beyond the book, like the Chronicles of Narnia.

Mostly the movies do stay true to the book. Bridget’s love interests are the same, Hugh Grant’s Daniel Cleaver and Colin Firth’s Mark Darcy. With that being said, the Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy novel does have a few differences to the upcoming movie. Roxster (Leo Woodhall) seems like he’ll play a bigger role in the movie. Whereas in the book, Roxster and Bridget only briefly dates casually. A lot of the plots from the novels are loosely threaded into the movies, which could happen with a fifth Bridget Jones instalment.
In an interview with the Radio Times, she said of another Bridget Jones novel that “I might do one set in LA”. During COVID-19, she wrote two Bridget Jones columns for the Sunday Times. Although Fielding doesn’t seem overly optimistic, Zellweger may have a more promising outlook. Find out what she said about more Bridget Jones movies.
What did she say about Bridget Jones movies?

Zellweger is busy doing press for Mad About The Boy, and she spoke about the potential for more Bridget Jones movies. Zellweger has always spoken highly of the character, she said she “lingers” in one interview. Speaking at the Leicester Square premiere, she said she has her “fingers crossed” that the movie isn’t Bridget’s last.
She also said she’s “in denial” about the franchise possibly ending.
Also speaking at the premiere to Deadline, she says she’ll “never be done” with Bridget Jones. We have to admire her dedication. We have seen Bridget as a single frazzled mess, a lover girl, a wife, a mother, a widow, and a girlfriend all across 25 years.
On the character she said: “I just knew that I loved her, she made me laugh. I knew she touched my heart.”
The 55-year-old was asked the burning question: is she done with Bridget Jones?
Fondly, Zellweger responded and said she’d: “I’ll never be done with Bridget Jones”. Everyone is in love with Bridget Jones!
With fingers crossed she said “Hopefully, Helen might spark to something, want to share something through the Bridget character again down the line.”
The Bridget Jones star was asked if she’d say no if Fielding asked her to reprise her role, and she said “who would say no?”
