- Actor Richard Gere has been married to Alejandra Silva, a Spanish publicist, since 2018
- Gere and Silva moved with their family to Spain in late 2024
- Now, five months later, they are returning – but why?

Actor Richard Gere is making another relocation, and this time it’s back to the US. The actor, 75, is returning to the US just five months after relocating. And no, his relocation had nothing to do with Donald Trump becoming president. Gere moved to Spain with his wife, Alejandra Silva, 42, as it is her home country. But he won’t be back straightaway.
The Pretty Woman star has been married to his publicist wife since April 2018. They have two children together. Previously, Gere had many high-profile relationships, including his marriage to supermodel Cindy Crawford in the 1990s. Meanwhile, Silva was married to Govind Friedland from 2012 to 2015.

Back in April 2024, Gere told Vanity Fair Spain he wanted to leave the US. After his interview, he relocated in November 2024.
“For Alejandra, it will be wonderful to be closer to her family, her lifelong friends, and her culture. She was very generous in giving me six years living in my world, so it is only fair that I give her at least another six living in hers,” he told the outlet.
Furthermore, Gere said he appreciates the Spanish culture and lifestyle, which partly influenced his decision.
But why is he and his wife planning to move back to the US in a few years?
Why are Richard Gere and his wife returning to the US soon?

Speaking to the Daily Mail and reported by People, Silva revealed why they are planning to move back to the US. “For a few years we’ll live in Spain, and then come back,” Silva told the tabloid.
“But we’re always coming back. We’ll come back here in the summer because we have the kids at camp. We just have to balance our lives there and here,” she continued.
For several years, Silva lived in New York City with Gere to be close to him and for his career. Gere is currently starring in the Paramount+ thriller The Agency, where he plays Bosko. Bosko, real name James Bradley, is a CIA London Station Chief and a former undercover agent.
But The Agency does not film in the US. The first season was primarily filmed in London, with some scenes filmed in Estonia.
“I’m with my family … I missed them a lot. But I miss the U.S. so we come back and forth,” The 42-year-old told The Daily Mail.
Many of Gere’s children live in the US and have expressed that they miss their father. However, with young children, it may not be easy for The Agency star to return like before.
Additionally, he sold his $11 million Connecticut home in October 2024, a month before he and Silva left the land of stars and stripes.
We’re sure with his net worth, he’ll snatch up another piece of luxury New York property when he eventually comes back.
