- Fourth film in the Riddick franchise reunites star Vin Diesel with writer/director David Twohy
- Last film in the series, Riddick, was released in 2013
- New film sees Riddick return to his home world and come up against a new monster

More than a decade after he last played the role, Vin Diesel is back as Richard B Riddick as the fourth instalment of the Riddick franchise begins production in late August.
Also back is David Twohy, who wrote and directed the previous films in the series – ‘Pitch Black’ (2000), ‘The Chronicles of Riddick’ (2004) and ‘Riddick’ (2013) – again penning the script and taking on directing duties. Diesel is also serving as producer through his production company, One Race Films.
Filming for this latest instalment in the franchise is set to take place in Germany, Spain and the UK, according to Variety.
A press release has given a taster of the plot of the film: “Riddick finally returns to his home world, a place he barely remembers and one he fears might be left in ruins. But there he finds other Furyans fighting for their existence against a new monster. And some of these Furyans are more like Riddick than he could have ever imagined.”
However, we haven’t yet had details on who will be starring alongside Diesel in the film, nor a projected date for its release into theaters.
‘Riddick: Furya’ is one of several action films that Diesel is lined up to star in in the near future. He is also set for the final film in the amazingly long-running ‘Fast and Furious’ series, as well as a film version of 70s/80s TV cop show ‘Kojak’ and a role in ‘Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots’ – yes, a film based on the ever-popular Mattel toy.
