- Ryan Reynolds thinks Jonathan Bailey was too good in Wicked:Part One
- The comments were made at an awards show in New York City
- It was his first turn in the spotlight since his wife Blake Lively’s legal drama

Ryan Reynolds says that Jonathan Bailey was almost too good in the smash-hit movie musical Wicked.
The Deadpool and Wolverine star was, in fact, so enamoured with the Bridgerton star in the Jon M. Chu-helmed movie adaption of the Broadway musical that he said it was bad for the rest of Hollywood.
Bailey played Fiyero, the handsome new addition to Shiz University who gets involved with Ariana Grande’s Galinda but has a connection with Cynthia Evrio’s Elphaba.

“I have one note. I think we can all agree that Jonathan Bailey is objectively perfect. Perhaps too perfect. Personally, I would’ve preferred fewer scenes featuring Mr. Bailey,” Reynolds said while presenting at the National Board of Review Awards in New York City.
What else did Ryan Reynolds say about Jonathan Bailey in Wicked?
He continued, “Being good is great, but being great is bad. You can’t just go around indiscriminately spraying charisma all over an enraptured audience. It might feel nice in the moment, but it could easily destabilize the entire industry.”
Reynolds admitted that he felt that Bailey was “making us look terrible”, meaning the other movie stars.
“Hollywood Leading Man Society, simply cannot sustain a standard of performance this high and it is in our collective best interest that Jonathan Bailey tone it the f – – – down,” he said. “I cannot work harder than I already work and plastic surgery frightens me, Johnny … Let’s just pump the talent breaks or get out of f****** town.”

Reynold called Bailey “hardworking”, “kind” and “easy on the eyes”.

What is the legal drama with his wife, Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni?
Reynolds’ attendance at the awards ceremony was notable because it was the first time he had been seen publicly since his wife Blake Lively’s legal battle with Justin Baldoni. The pair are involved in a string of lawsuits regarding the filming of The Last Of Us.
Lively took it public in a New York Times investigation that included a string of misconduct allegations. These included sexual harassment and a smear campaign run against her.
Baldoni launched his own lawsuit, again containing allegations such as libel. One of his claims was that Reynolds pressured his talent agency, WME, to drop him. They denied this.
Amid the drama, Lively opted to forgo attending The Golden Globes last weekend.
