- Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo are said to have been locked in a feud for many years
- But fans were were delighted when the pair were spotted chatting at this year’s Grammy awards
- In a clip, Carpenter can be seen embracing Rodrigo, who had gone over to her table to talk

Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo are two of music’s biggest stars.
And after the pair have reportedly been at loggerheads for quite some time, they seem to have buried the hatchet – as they were spotted sharing a hug at the 2025 Grammy awards on Sunday, February 2.
In the clip, Rodrigo, 21, can be seen crouching by Carpenter, 25, at her table. The pair appear to be talking, and then share a hug.
But the reconciliation doesn’t stop there – as Rodrigo and Carpenter also spent time together at the Grammys after party.
Fans went wild for the blossoming friendship on social media.
“I’VE PRAYED FOR TIMES LIKE THIS,” screamed one, as another said, “This is so important to my culture.”
Referencing Carpenter’s album Short n’ Sweet, and Rodrigo’s Sour, another wrote, “Sweet and sour in the making.”
Someone else noted, “Omg they look so proud of each other,” while another cried, “PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE MAKE A DUETTT I BEG THEM.”
Why were Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo said to be fighting?
If you’re not caught up on the drama, Carpenter and Rodrigo’s feud goes back years.
The rift between the pair has been ongoing since Rodrigo released her debut hit single, Driver’s Licence.
While it’s never been revealed who the song is about, many fans speculated Rodrigo was writing about her then-boyfriend and fellow High School Musical star, Joshua Bassett.
Although the relationship was never official, it’s widely thought that the pair dated for around a year until July 2020 – when Bassett was seen hanging out with Carpenter.
After Rodrigo’s track dropped on January 8 2021, Carpenter then went on to release her ‘diss track’, Skin, on January 22.
There are other rumored elements to the drama. Rodrigo avoided a lawsuit with Taylor Swift – who she previously talked about being a huge fan of – by giving her a songwriting credit on her track Deja Vu, after Swift, 35, noticed similarities with her track, Cruel Summer.
She later took Carpenter on tour with her as a support act.
However, Swift was also seen chatting to Rodrigo’s boyfriend, actor Louis Partridge, at the Grammys.
Fans react to Sabrina Carpenter’s Grammy performance
Not only did Carpenter appear to end her rivalry with Rodrigo, but the singer also had an amazing night, you know, winning awards.
The Taste singer walked away with her very first Grammys – for the coveted Pop Vocal Album and Pop Vocal Performance, no less.
Carpenter also gave an amazing mash-up performance of her hits Espresso and Please Please Please during the ceremony – and fans couldn’t help but compare the singer to another starlet… Miss Piggy.
While it may seem like a stretch to compare Carpenter to the beloved Muppets character, fans were thrilled that she had taken tricks from Piggy’s “playbook”.
“Beyond being wickedly talented and gorgeous, I appreciate that Sabrina has taken notes from the Miss Piggy playbook (being gorgeous with huge curls doing physical comedy),” wrote one fan on Twitter/X.
Another added, “The way Miss Piggy and Sabrina Carpenter are literally long lost sisters…”.
While the fun routine did look like something Miss Piggy would have taken on, Carpenter actually took inspiration from a 1978 performance by actor Goldie Hawn – and fans lapped it up.
“Didn’t realize how starved we all were for physical comedy ‘til right now,” said one fan.
Another praised Carpenter’s stamina.
“The fact that she’s able to do all the theatrics and choreo, climb out of the stage, tap dance in heels, then jump in a man’s arms where she’s spun around multiple times and then still effortlessly hit all the notes… Sabrina Carpenter the icon you are,” they wrote.
