The much-anticipated final season of Stranger Things is nearly here. After a wait of several years – which somehow feels like longer – the Duffer Brothers’ runaway success will finally drop on Netflix on November 26.

The premiere for the new season was held in Los Angeles last night and saw the cast reunited again, possibly for the final time.

The first season was released in 2016, and in that time, many of the main cast, including people such as Millie Bobby Brown and Finn Wolfhart have grown up on the show and are now bona fide Hollywood stars.

So now is the right time to find out more about Millie Bobby Brown – here are seven things you might not know about her.

Hearing loss

Millie was born with partial hearing loss in her left ear and, over time, she has lost hearing completely in that ear. However, she has learnt to adapt to this.

She was homeschooled

As a child, Millie’s family moved home – and country – regularly. For instance, she was born in Spain, but then her family moved to Bournemouth in England when she was four. Four years later, the family moved again, this time to Orlando in Florida. When her talent for acting was recognised, the family moved again to Los Angeles.

Partly for this reason, Millie and her siblings were homeschooled. Millie has said that while she worried about missing out on friendships and school experiences, it also enabled her to have the job she always wanted.

She was nearly in Game of Thrones

As a young and then-relatively-unknown actress, Millie auditioned for the role of Lady Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones in 2016. However, she didn’t get the role – it went instead to Bella Ramsey, who has also done quite well since. But its doubtful Millie regrets this as soon after she landed the role of Eleven in Stranger Things.

Her first movie was huge

While Millie made her name on the small screen, her transition to cinema couldn’t have been much more high profile – the blockbuster sequel Godzilla: King of the Monsters, which hit screens in 2019. She reprised her role in 2021’s Godzilla vs Kong.

She’s a novelist and student

As well as being an actress, Millie has also somehow found time to pen a novel. In 2023, she released Nineteen Steps, which is said to be based on her own family history and has been described as an ‘epic story of love, loss and secrets.’

In addition, Millie is continuing her education. Since August 2022, she has been an online student at Purdue University Global – a public online university that focuses on education working age adults – studying health and human services.

She has her own cosmetics brand

In 2019, Millie launched her own cosmetics brand, Florence by Mills. The brand is aimed towards Gen Z adolescent girls and the products have been designed for young people’s skin. Fashion and clothing have since been added to the brand, although it is only available online.

The name is a tribute to her grandmother Florence, who, according to Millie “embraced her individuality a lot and she expressed herself… I definitely relate to that… and I wanted that to represent my brand as well,” she said in an interview with People in 2019.

Youngest ambassador

In 2018, Millie was appointed as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador – meaning she works to promote children’s rights – the youngest person to be given such a role. Other ambassadors include Katy Perry, football star Lionel Messi and tennis champion Novak Djokovic.
