Shrek 5 will return to our screens in 2026 – and viewers young and old can’t wait to have our favourite swamp-dwelling ogre back in theaters once more.

With the first Shrek movie premiering in 2001, the impressive star-studded cast list seems to have grown with each movie.

From John Lithgow as the evil Lord Farquaad, to John Cleese and Julie Andrews as King Harold and Queen Lillian, the fairytale with a twist has drawn in some of the biggest names in Hollywood.

But who will be returning to the cast of Shrek 5, and are there any new additions? Here’s everything we know so far.

It wouldn’t be Shrek without Mike Myers, and the actor will return to voice the beloved ogre once more.

His sidekick Donkey will be played by Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz will once again star as his wife, Fiona.

However, at the moment, the rest of the returning cast is yet to be confirmed.

This includes whether or not Antonio Banderas will be back on our screens as Puss In Boots.

Are there any new additions to the cast of Shrek 5?

Aside from the likes of Myers and Diaz, a few new faces (or voices, rather) are set to pop up in the movie.

On February 27, it was revealed that Zendaya will join the cast.

The Challengers actor, 28, is set to star as Shrek and Fiona’s teenage daughter.

As Shrek and Fiona have three children, we can gather that Zendaya will also have two siblings – although we’re still in the dark as to who is set to play them.

Is there a first-look at Zendaya’s character in Shrek 5?

Fans are in luck – as Dreamworks has offered us a glimpse of the movie in a new clip

The first teaser trailer for Shrek 5 arrived in late February 2025. In it, we saw the Magic Mirror act as a TikTok screen sharing some of Shrek’s most viral moments.

The trailer also revealed the addition of Zendaya joining its far, far away ensemble – and also hints that Pinnochio, voiced by Cody Cameron, will also return.

The film is set to hit theaters by Christmas 2026.
