The world was… not quite shocked, but certainly surprised when Joe Biden dropped out of the race to be reelected as President of the United States in this year’s election.
In a statement made on July 21, the current leader, 81, announced, “While it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term.”
After giving his statement, Biden endorsed his current Vice President, Kamala Harris, for the top job.
While all the drama was certainly exciting, the Internet did, of course, produce some amazing memes.

Although many thought that earplugs may be necessary
Imagine the Kamala Harris chuckles and guffaws right now. Eardrums are bursting

Some commended Biden on his excellent way of fighting the ‘Sunday scaries’
A lot of people commenting on how Biden stepping down is the best thing he could have done, I disagree. Quitting on a Sunday night so you don’t have to bother with work on a Monday morning is the true power move here
And there were plenty of memes about him stepping down
His family should give him a shed in his garden with a pretend cardboard TV camera and let him think he's continuing to address the nation for the rest of his days https://t.co/3vrqRpGjOG
While others had some stellar advice for Harris’s choice of running mate
I’m not Olivia Pope but if I was…the first thing I’d tell Kamala Harris is that she needs to pick the WHITEST, STRAIGHTEST, Protestant Christian man with a WIFE and 2-3 KIDS, about 48 to 50-ish years old and make HIM her running mate! Extra points if he’s a veteran.
A lot of people were concerned about the whimsical Jack Schlossberg – aka JFK’s grandson – and his new role as political correspondent at Vogue
poor Jack Schlossberg I’m sure he had a big Sunday lined up of unicycling around Caroline Kennedy’s garage as he sings “Va Va Voom” by Nicki Minaj and now he needs to churn out an emergency column for Vogue
