- Reported that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will have post-credit scenes to the last second
- Director has already said that new characters will be teased post-credits
- Sonic 3 lands in theaters later this month.

The upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie is looking to keep viewers in theaters until the last second, with multiple post-credit scenes, according to reports.
Multiple post-credit scenes
Collider has reported that Paramount confirmed at CCXP in Brazil that the threequel will have “multiple” post-credit scenes. While the exact number hasn’t been confirmed – although multiple would indicate that it is more than two – it has been reported that they will extend to the “last second”. So no looking for a speedy getaway when the credits start to roll for movie goers.
We already know the subject of one post-credit scene. Last month, Sonic 3 director Jeff Fowler talked about the franchise and enjoying seeing fan debates about who might crop up next – and hinted at one upcoming post-credit scene. “It’s fun to see the fan debates online about who’s coming up next,” he said. “It is fun to keep that anticipation. This movie is no different in terms of teasing new characters.”
Tails and Shadow were trailed at the end of Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 respectively and there is now speculation on social media over which character could come next.
Potential for Sonic 4
These post-credit scenes also suggest that Sonic 3 won’t be the last cinematic outing for the iconic blue hedgehog. The franchise has been hugely successful – including a TV show spinoff focusing on Knuckles the Echidna, which aired earlier this year – and kicked off the trend for movies based on video game franchises. However, a fourth film has yet to be officially greenlit.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 speeds into theaters on December 20.
