Squid Game has made its long-awaited return to Netflix three years after its smash-hit first season dropped. Now, fans of the show seem to be asking the same question about it.

Set three years after the events of the first season, Gi-hunm – AKA Player 456 – returns to the game on a mission to destroy it from the inside. He’s up against a new set of games and a new villain in the form of Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), whose motivations remain mysterious.
Fans have been curious about one notable piece of information in the world of the show, which is the value of the game’s prize pot. We already know that surviving the deadly game makes you extremely wealthy – but just how wealthy in Western terms?
How much is the prize pot worth in US dollars?
The victor of Squid Game takes home 45.6 billion won, the currency of South Korea.
It’s just as huge a sum in US dollars. According to Netflix, the price money converts to about $31 million.
How come Gi-hun is back in the game?
Surely, after one ordeal in the game, Gi-Hun wants to move on? Not quite, according to director Hwang Dong-hyuk. Key to the plot is the fact that our protagonist has been so drastically changed by his experiences that he isn’t the same person.
“He wants to return to a ‘normal’ so-called life. [But] there’s something inside him that has already been broken, where he cannot return to the way he was before,” Hwang said during Netflix’s Fall Edit event in November.
. “That is why I believe that character decides to return [to Squid Game], turn away from [his daughter], and begin this further journey.”
When will season 3 of Squid Game arrive?
While there was a three-year wait between the K-drama’s first two seasons, the final instalment may well arrive sooner. Hwang has said season 3 could arrive sometime in 2025.
“At this point, anything I might say is going to be a spoiler, so I want to be cautious,” Hwang told Variety. But what I can say is, after Season two launches, I believe we will be announcing the launch date for Season three soon.”
As for when season three might come out, Hwang said: “I probably expect that to launch around summer or fall next year.”
