Stranger Things season 5 has been described as “basically eight movies” by one of its stars who also offered a brief update on the show’s production schedule.

Maya Hawke, who plays Robin Buckley, in The Duffer Brothers’ hugely popular Netflix hit shared these details during a recent visit to the hosts of the Podcrushed podcast.

Stranger Things season 5 will be the show’s final outing, with many eager to see how this supernatural hit will bow out. By the sounds of it, the creatives behind the series are pulling out all the stops to ensure the series wraps with a bang – and a few longer-than-usual episodes.

“We’re making, basically, eight movies. The episodes are very long,” Hawke told Pocrushed hosts Penn Badgley, Nava Cave-in and Sophie Ansari.

Elsewhere, she confirmed that the show was yet to wrap production, with shooting expected to continue throughout the remainder of 2024.

Stranger Things season 5 is due to land on Netflix worldwide in 2025 but it doesn’t have a concrete release date just yet.

During her chat with Podcrushed, Hawke commented on the long wait times between series.

“They are very intense and serious about the quality of the continued writing, and so it takes a long time to write each season and a long time to shoot them,” said Hawke, commenting on the extensive gaps.

With Stranger Things season 4 landing in 2022, the three-year wait between those episodes and Stranger Things season 5’s 2025 debut will mark the longest gap yet between series.

Hawke also revealed she felt “intimidated” joining the series in season 3 after it was already hugely popular.

“It was intimidating, especially because I’m a person who loves TV. Like as a viewer, I’m almost a little embarrassed about it,” said the star.

“I often feel that when they bring in new characters in shows, I get frustrated. I like the original cast, I don’t need to follow this new plotline,” added Hawke. “So I was worried about people feeling about my character that way, on such a beloved show.”

Is there a trailer for Stranger Things 5?

Unfortunately not. With production on the show still underway, we’re yet to see an official trailer for Stranger Things’ fifth and final outing.

That said, we do have a behind-the-scenes featurette which takes us deep into the production of this hotly-tipped new series. Watch it above.

This short teaser was released in October 2024. Hopefully, we’ll have a teaser trailer soon.
