Let’s get this party started – the latest entrant into the ever-popular Super Mario Party series has got a release date.

Packed with minigames

Nintendo has announced that Super Mario Party Jamboree will be released on October 17 with a provisional PEGI 3 rating, and it promises more than 110 minigames – the most ever packed into a game.

There are seven boards players can choose from including new ones such as Goomba Lagoon and Rainbow Galleria, as well as classics such as Mario’s Rainbow Castle, which have appeared in past iterations of the game.

One of the new innovations for Jamboree is the Koopathlon, a 20-player online competition to see who can rack up the highest scores in a range of minigames – the higher the score, the faster you reach the goal.

More games to come

This announcement is one of a slew of new games that Nintendo has recently announced for the Switch this year. One of the most eagerly anticipated will be The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom where for the first time players can actually play as the titular character, rather than the swordsman Link.

It also seems to give more credence to the theory that the successor console to the Switch – provisionally called the Switch 2 – will be released in 2025. It had been thought it would be released before Christmas this year, but the roster of new games coming in the second half of 2024 would seem to indicate that Nintendo feels there is life in the console yet and isn’t holding back titles for the new version just yet.
