Another celebrity breakup is on the horizon? Well, maybe. Reports have surfaced that actress Sydney Sweeney and her fiancé Jonathan Davino are heading for Splitsville. Rumors of a breakup surfaced in February when the couple reportedly postponed their wedding. Fans thought this was strange, as they have been engaged since 2022.
Adding fuel to the fire were stories that Sweeney lives apart from her husband which were reported in March 2025. The actress has been allegedly living at the Beverly Hills Hotel alone since mid-February.
Although the couple is private, they haven’t been spotted together since January when they stepped out in New York City. Now another story by The Daily Mail claims the couple is “in a rough patch,” as per a source. A source said the two are trying to stay away from each other to reassess the status of their relationship. However, nothing has been confirmed yet.

Sweeney has been linked to her businessman fiancé since 2018. The two have been together for almost seven years but rarely speak about each other publicly. The 27-year-old actress gushed over her man on Saturday Night Life when she hosted. She said of Davino, “Me and my fiancé produced the movie together, and he was there the entire shoot,” she said.
“And I just want to let everyone know that he’s the man of my dreams, and we’re still together and stronger than ever. He even came here tonight to support me,” she continued.

The couple were first rumored to be dating in September 2018 when they attended multiple events together. Both attended the Hulu Emmys party and an InStyle dinner party. Throughout the rest of the year, the two were not seen together.
2019 – Davino and Sweeney establish their relationship
In October 2019 a year after their first public appearances and rumors about them swirled, the two attended a Knicks game together and sat courtside. Pictures showed Sweeney smiling and holding Davino’s hand.
The Euphoria star coyly spoke about Davino for the first time in December 2019. In an interview, she said she wants to live in Chicago, specifically where much of Davino’s family are based. Although she didn’t name him, she coyly said “a friend” lives there. A man friend, hey, Sweeney?
2020 – Spotted on vacation
We are sensing a pattern here, another year later the two were spotted in Maui in Hawaii on vacation together. In pictures, the couple were kissing and giving everyone all the PDA vibes! Not to be seen again for another year!
2022 – Openeness and engagement
With Cosmopolitan, Sweeney opened up a little about her dating habits and wants in a relationship. “I look for a best friend. I need to be able to be with someone who I can literally hang out with 24/7 and never get sick of and we laugh every single day,” she said.
Engagement rumors were confirmed in March 2022 when Sweeney was spotted out with a stunning rock on her finger. Tabloids confirmed the two were engaged. They were spotted at a spa that month together.
As summer came, Sweeney opened up about wanting to start a family “young”. No, she did not specify with who, but considering the age difference between her and Davino, it makes sense. Currently, Sweeney is 27 while Davino is 41.
2023 – public outings and PDA
2023 was a big year for the couple as they were spotted out together many times. Up until this point, glimpses of them in public and at events were rare. Having date nights, they were spotted in New York in April, at the Cannes Film Festival In May, and back in NYC in June.
That August, Sweeney spoke about her and co-star Glenn Powell playing into romance rumors on their film Anyone But You. Devino co-produced the film alongside Sweeney. A new year came and Sweeney spoke more about her and Davino. About him, she called him “the man of my dreams” while performing her opening monologue on SNL. The romance rumors between her and Powell were also addressed and she claimed they’d played it up to promote the movie. Fair enough, and well played.
The rare glimpse into the two’s relationship was shared on Sweeney’s Instagram during a trip to Universal Studios. Then came October, when Sweeney called her man her “teammate” and said they were “in it together”. The interview could’ve come because Sweeney has been immensely successful. 2025 – break up rumors
In February 2025, rumors swirled that the couple had called off their wedding, set for this May. TMZ reported the wedding was “pushed back because of the couple’s busy schedule”. Sweeney does have a busy career, so that could be the answer.
The plot thickens because, in early March 2025, further reports suggested the couple were living apart, with Sweeney living in a hotel. This is coupled with the fact the two haven’t been spotted together for a few months, but that is normal for them.
