She’s one of the biggest names on the planet.
So it’s unsurprising that Taylor Swift’s latest career move has already been picked up by Swifties across the globe.
According to Us Weekly, the pop star, 34, has instructed her company TAS Rights Management to submit the paperwork to trademark a specific phrase – Female Rage: The Musical.
The expression is in reference to Swift’s newly released section of songs from her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department.
While her 11th record dropped on April 19, the Karma singer waited an extra two hours to surprise fans with an extra 15 songs from the secret double album, which had their debut performances at her Paris shows last weekend.
Writing to her fans on social media on May 12, Swift praised the French capital, “This post is dedicated to the new Tortured Poets section of the Eras Tour (aka Female Rage The Musical!) and everyone who made these memories so magical.
“To my crew, fellow performers, and band who worked tirelessly in their break to concoct this surprise for you — but mostly for the fans in Paris. I’m so thankful that it was you we got to show this to for the first time because you gave us so much excitement, passion, and love.”
‘Finally, a Taylor Swift musical!’
And since the legal instruction on May 11, Swift’s fans have been speculating what the trademark could mean.
“Finally a musical of her whole discography”, praised one, while another mused, “Another version of the movie probably.”
Others seemed to think that the phrase would be used as branding for Swift’s merchandise, while others were convinced that she is set for a run on Broadway.
“She trademarks everything so I don’t think we’re getting a musical. I think that won’t come until her late career”, another wrote.
Whatever the star is planning, the general consensus among the Swifties seemed to be clear: “Hands down, she’s one of the smartest businesswomen”!
