It’s due to hit our screens next month.

And in this season of Bridgerton, it is the turn of the love story between Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington – aka Lady Whistledown herself – to blossom.

Dubbed ‘Polin’ by fans of the series, the parts are played by actors Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan, and the steamy trailer has been sending fans crazy.

But while most actors leave the chemistry on-set, eagle-eyed followers are convinced that there is much more to the friendship between the Irish actor, 37, and her onscreen partner, 31.

Responding to reports that they broke furniture during some of their steamy scenes, Coughlan replied, “Hell yeah, we did.” She also added that the pair would often lounge around naked between takes, and said, “We would be like, in between scenes, and they were like, ‘Do you wanna get up and put your clothes on?’ We’re like, ‘We’ll just chill here.’ Like, in under the blankets. But then we have the advantage of knowing each other for years.”

“When the director yells ‘CUT IT OUT’ but Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan hear ‘SLUT IT OUT’,” wrote one fan, while another added, “EVERYBODY SAY THANK YOU LUKE NEWTON AND NICOLA COUGHLAN FOR BRINGING BACK REAL CHEMISTRY.”

Others shared cute clips of the pair.

“Must watch: Luke Newton’s ears turn red upon Nicola Coughlan’s answer about their chemistry,” someone commented. Another added, “I want someone who looks at me like Luke Newton looks at his ‘co-worker’ Nicola Coughlan.”

“THIS IS A MAN IN LOVE U CANT TELL ME OTHERWISE,” someone exclaimed, while another noted, “How she looks at him as well,” adding a heart eyes emoji.

And while most are buying into the romance, others believe the cheeky pair are hamming it up for the press tour – but are fully here for it.

“Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan are 100% just friends and talk all the time about their friendship. But the more people speculate about them being in love, the more unhinged their interviews and social media activity get, and I respect that so much,” one Twitter/X user mused.

The first four episodes of Bridgerton season three will hit our screens on May 16, while the following four will be available to watch on June 13.

Season one saw the blossoming relationship between Daphne Bridgerton (played by Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon Bassett, the Duke of Hastings, who was portrayed by Regé-Jean Page. Viewers then watched Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma (Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley) fall in love in the second installment.
