- Season 2 won’t cover the full game and may extend to Season 4
- The upcoming season will have only seven episodes, focusing on quality
- Major new characters, including Abby, Jesse, and Dina, will debut

The Last of Us Season 2 is set to premiere in April 2025 and is going to hit deeper than before.
More Seasons, More Story
But the new season is coming with a twist; the upcoming season won’t be covering the entire game’s story as it is quite massive and will be stretched to more seasons like 3 and 4. Here is everything we know about Season 2.
The showrunner Craig Mazin mentioned while speaking to Deadline,
“We don’t think that we’re going to be able to tell the story even within two seasons [2 and 3] because we’re taking our time and going down interesting pathways, which we did a little bit in Season 1, too,” revealed Mazin.”
“We feel like it’s almost assuredly going to be the case that — as long as people keep watching and we can keep making more television — Season 3 will be significantly larger. And indeed, the story may require Season 4.”
Speaking of the episodes, unlike Season 1, Season 2 will have seven episodes. The creators are more focused on crafting the quality season instead of making it extensive. Craig stated the reason:
“The story material that we got from Part II of the game is way more than the story material that was in the first game, so part of what we had to do from the start was figure out how to tell that story across seasons,”
“When you do that, you look for natural breakpoints, and as we laid it out, this season, the national breakpoint felt like it came after seven episodes.”
New Faces and Big Twists
A new season means new faces, and some of them will shake things up big time:
- Kaitlyn Dever as Abby
- Young Mazino as Jesse
- Isabela Merced as Dina
- Jeffrey Wright as Isaac
- Catherine O’Hara (role unknown)
Season 1 was about the two main characters, their bonding, and survival amid the chaos that occurred during the apocalypse; considering that Season 2 is going to be about vengeance.
