Joe and Anthony Russo were recently cornered during the Los Angeles premiere of their new Netflix movie The Electric State. The movie features Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown and Jurassic World’s Chris Pratt. Together, they must navigate in a post-apocalyptic adventure set in a world where robots have tried – and failed – to orchestrate an uprising.
However, when the directors hit the red carpet, Deadline took the opportunity to ask about them about the future of the X-Men.

As you might expect, the pair remained suspiciously tight-lipped about the idea of seeing Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm et al make their MCU debut.
What did The Russo Brothers say about X-Men in Avengers: Doomsday?

Deadline asked the Russo Brothers whether Avengers: Doomsday could feature the debut of any X-Men or characters introduced in Ryan Reynolds’ recent MCU debut Deadpool Vs Wolverine.
“Who knows? I don’t know. I don’t know who we’re gonna see. I still don’t know,” said Joe, neither confirming nor denying their presence in the sequel.
Meanwhile, Anthony took a more tongue in cheek approach to answering the same question. “If you close your eyes and use your imagination, you can see anyone you want,” he joked. “Whoever tickles your fancy.”
Joe concluded by assuring fans that “Anybody in the Marvel bag could show up in this movie.”
Interesting.

Speaking about the movie’s London shoot, Joe revealed “we’re shooting them fairly back-to-back, it’s a lot of work again, we may or may not survive, we’ll see.”
He added “we’re very excited about it. We found a way into the story that we think is gonna be challenging for audiences, it’s challenging for us to execute. And it’s really exciting for us, it gets us out of bed to do it.”
