After almost another 3 years, the premiere date of Ginny & Georgia season 3 is almost among us. Netflix left us feeling sad at the end of season 2 when Georgia (Brianne Howey)Miller (now Randolph) was arrested at her wedding. As far as cinematic plot twists, go, that wasn’t a bad one. Season 2 also saw the breakdown of Ginny’s (Antonia Gentry) and Marcus’s (Felix Mallard) relationship among other important plots.

Ginny & Georgia premiered on the streaming service in February 2021. During its first month Netflix, Ginny & Georgia was watched by 52 million users, according to Deadline. It was quickly renewed for season 2 and another 2 seasons in May 2023. The show follows a mother and daughter as they move to a rich new town to escape their past.

Netflix announced the show will premiere on 5 June. With Ginny & Georgia season 3 approaching and sneak peeks out, here’s what we want to see.

1. Georgia out of jail

In a first look at Ginny & Georgia season 3, our beloved mother is pictured behind bars looking broken down. Howie said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that this is “Georgia’s breakdown season”.

It’s not the first time her character has broken down. Ginny’s mother has spent years on the run hiding and protecting her children, and now her secrets are exposed. However, Howie also teased “where there’s a will, there’s a way” about Georgia escaping, so there’s hope.

With that said, we want to see her out of jail. Wasting half the season on a trial would be a big letdown unless she has a wild defense for her crimes. This is a comedy as well as a drama!

But prolonging Georgia’s jail time would be a boring and cheap way to fill the season. We want to see a raw and emotional Georgia, but also a Georgia who will do anything for her children – that means escaping jail!

2. More Ginny & Marcus screentime

Aside from Georgia and Joe, (Raymond Ablack) Ginny and Marcus have the best relationship with Ginny & Georgia. In Ginny and Georgia season 3, we want to see more of them on-screen. Season 2 did significantly increase their scenes because they were a couple, but we want that in season 3.

While Georgia is behind bars, it would be nice to see Marcus be there for Ginny alongside Mang. (Watch the show, guys, watch the show). She was there for Marcus with his depression and struggles. If he were to return the favor it would be a nice way to establish them as friends even if we want them to be more. Without her mother, Ginny is likely to be in the custody of her father Zion (Nathan Mitchell).

Sarah Glinski, the showrunner for season 3, hinted that they are delving deeper into relationships. She said these include “some we’ve seen before and some we haven’t.”

We hope that includes Ginny & Marcus.

3. Georgia and Joe’s development

It seems that last scene Georgia and Joe were on the cusp of the enemies-to-lovers trope, but it never materialized. Fans of the show love the slow-burn relationship between the childhood friends, but now there’s a dilemma. At the end of season 2, Georgia married Paul Randolph, the mayor of Wellsbury.

Although she will begin Ginny & Georgia season 3 in a predicament, we would like to see more scenes between Georgia and Joe. If possible, it might be nice to see Joe rescue Georgia Shrek style, but maybe that’s Paul’s job now. Season 2 delved into their dynamic with Joe calling Georgia out, he says “There’s something to feel here,” implying their feelings are mutual when he gives her back her sunglasses.

Hopefully, season 3 builds on that plot, with both Joe and Georgia being single, of course.

4. Austin’s reaction to Georgia’s arrest

In Ginny & Georgia season 3, we must see more of Ginny’s younger half-brother Austin. (Diesel La Torraca). In season 2, Austin had a defining moment when he shoots Gil (Aaron Ashmore), who is his father who was released from jail. Georgia framed Gil for fraudulent cheques and got him arrested to escape his abuse. Considering he was so obsessed with his father in season 1, it would be interesting to see how this affects him.

Additionally, up until this point Austin is just regarded as a side character. The show is Ginny & Georgia after all, but it would be an interesting plotline to see Austin’s trauma as well as Ginny’s. Not only did he shoot his father but he also witnessed his mother get publicly arrested, which has to be traumatizing for a young child.

Since the show has delved into the trauma of its girls, why not do it for the youngest boy?

5. Exploring Abby’s issues with her body and self

Abby (Katie Douglas) is one of the less annoying members of MANG. We’re looking at you, Max. She is also one of the only girls to have a compelling storyline, a struggle with body image and self-esteem. In season 2 Abby’s struggles escalate when she begins tapeing her thighs together to try and appear skinnier.

Abby’s old friend group never finds out, leaving the possibility for season 3 to explore the issue more. Norah (Chelsea Clark) and Max (Sarah Waisglass) continue to isolate Abby despite accepting Ginny back into the group.

The show could explore the impact that the isolation has on Abby, even before she is fully excluded. Season 1 gives hints about Abby being on the outside of the group and her turning towards Matt/Presley (Damian Romeo) as he is known.

Furthermore, in the season finale, he finds out about her taping her legs when he puts his hand on her thighs. He asks if she does it and Abby repeatedly tells him to “shut up”.

Ginny & Georgia season 3 must explore this plot line to do the storyline justice. It would be a shame if they were to open up that can of worms and never mention it again.

There are our hopes for Ginny & Georgia season 3. Stayed tuned for updates on the show.
