Thunderbolts* isn’t just wowing critics and fans alike since its release. It also turns out Marvel’s latest smash hit has broken a franchise record.

With Captain America: Brave New World garnering some pretty mild reactions earlier this year, Marvel needed to bring the curtain down on Phase 5 in style, and seem to have done just that thanks to some star turns from the likes of Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Olga Kurylenko and Wyatt Russell.

Thunderbolts* – Record Breakers

But aside from the plaudits the film and its cast have been receiving, Thunderbolts* now officially holds the record of having the longest post-credits scene in Marvel Cinematic Universe history.

Clocking in at a pretty hefty 174 seconds (two minutes 54 seconds), the Thunderbolts* effort sets things up for Avengers: Doomsday pretty nicely. And we also check back in with a few characters for good measure.

The runtime of the post-credits scene is a shade longer than the combined efforts of all five of Guardians of the Galaxy 2’s scenes (two minutes 51 seconds) and more than two minutes longer than Iron Man’s now iconic ‘Avengers Iniative’ tease (37 seconds).

What To Expect From The Post-Credits Scene

Some fan reactions are already calling the footage some of the best of the entire MCU so far. A bold claim when you take into account how much territory that covers.

Many fans have wasted no time sharing their hot takes on social media sites like X.

“The second post-credits scene in Thunderbolts is EXTREMELY important and will set up the finale of the Multiverse Saga,” explained one excited fan.

“It sets up Avengeres Doomsday directly.”

“#Thunderbolts has 2 post credits scene & the last one is the most important & most exciting in YEARS!!!” added another eager viewer.

With so much about to take off for Phase 6 of the MCU this summer, there could be some serious competition for this record in the very near future.
