- Skateboarding legend is talking to Activision about “something”
- The 25th anniversary of the release of the first Pro Skater game is this month
- Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater is regarded as a classic game

With the 25th anniversary of the release of the first Pro Skater game coming up soon, Tony Hawk has revealed he is talking to Activision again recently.
Activision was the company behind the hugely popular Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series of games, the first of which was launched in September 1999 and has gone on to become a classic.
Something coming
Now, it seems that something new could be on the horizon. Talking to the Mythical Kitchen YouTube channel, Hawk said: “I’ve been talking to Activision again – which is insanely exciting – we’re working on something.”
However, what the something might be, Hawk remained tight-lipped. “I wish I could tell you more,” he said. “It will be something the fans will truly appreciate.”
Activision has seemingly confirmed that ‘something’ is in the works as it has recently refreshed the Tony Hawk social media pages.
In all, there were four games in the main Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series, along with numerous spinoffs released since under the ‘Tony Hawk’s’ name. In 2020, remakes of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 were remade, which became the fastest-selling games in the franchise’s history, selling 1 million copies in just 10 days.
There were plans to remake Pro Skater 3 and 4 too, but those were shelved when Activision merged developer Vicarious Visions into Blizzard.
The 25th anniversary of Pro Skater falls on September 29, so it is possible the ‘something’ will be revealed then.
Continuing popularity
Skateboarding continues to be popular in video games as well as a sport. Skateboarding has recently been elevated to core sport status in the Olympics, which means it will be a fixture for multiple Games to come.
