- The Lonely Island’s Akiva Schaffer is directing
- Liam Neeson stars as Lt. Frank Drebin Jr
- The film is set for release on August 1, 2025

It is only right that, when relaunching one of the most insane movie franchises of all time, you give it a suitably insane trailer to whet the appetite. So fans of very hot and awfully wet roasts, OJ Simpson getting shot multiple times and nice beavers rejoice, because the new Naked Gun trailer has arrived.
Without the late Leslie Nielsen to helm the franchise any more, Liam Neeson is taking on the Drebin family business of, erm, being a police officer, playing Frank Drebin’s son, complete with a few questionable fashion choices.
The teaser trailer is predictably farcical, with Neeson disguising himself as a schoolgirl to gain access to a bank robbery, before brutally killing several of the assailants, one with an oversized lollipop.

Who is Starring Alongside Liam Neeson in The Naked Gun?
Neeson’s supporting cast features Golden Globe and Emmy winning Paul Walter Hauser, Pamela Anderson, Danny Huston, Busta Rhymes and WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. An eclectic group, in anybody’s book.
Speaking to People, Neeson revealed he was a fan of the original movies: “They were a good giggle,” he says.
He was recruited for the reboot by producer Seth MacFarlane, his A Million Ways to Die in the West co-star. “He approached me about it: ‘They are going to reboot it, would you be interested?’ I thought, ‘Yeah, I would actually.’”
Neeson is best known for the action thriller films, Taken, and don’t forget he was nominated for a lead actor Oscar in Schindler’s List. Given his heavy drama background it comes as no surprise there’s uncertainty around Neeson being able to pull off such a slapstick comedy role. However, with MacFarlane’s credentials – creator of Family Guy, The Orville and Ted – there’s good reason to trust the process.
Neeson added: “Whether I can carry it or not, I honestly don’t know”.
Pammy Had “Great Connection” with “Sweetheart” Neeson
Joining Neeson is Pamela Anderson, who is enjoying rave reviews and award nominations for her latest performance as a Las Vegas showgirl in Gia Coppola’s film, The Last Showgirl.
Anderson was one of the biggest names in the entertainment industry throughout the 90’s – most notably as Baywatch icon CJ Parker – and has recently stepped back into the Hollywood limelight.
She spoke about her experience filming the Naked Gun reboot on Late Night with Seth Myers: “It was so fun. I mean, it’s so different from this film (The Last Showgirl). It’s a high comedy. I’m literally running into walls, which I’ve always wanted to do.”
Anderson continued with high praise for her co-star Neeson: “Liam is such a gentleman. He’s such a sweetheart, such a love, and we just had a great connection”.
While there is obviously some wariness about relaunching a classic, especially one that went as hard as The Naked Gun, such an unpredictable cast should make for something entertaining at the very least. The original Leslie Nielsen series has stood the test of time as one of the most iconic comedy franchises in Hollywood history. Endlessly quotable, along with Airplane, the Naked Gun series made Nielsen a household name. Now, if you’ll excuse us,we’re going to watch the whole series on a loop until August.
