Following the news that Donald Trump would be returning to the White House, it was revealed that Ellen DeGeneres is fleeing the US to set up a life in the idyllic British countryside.

She and her wife Portia De Rossi were spotted in ex Top Gear’s presenter Jeremy Clarkson’s pub, The Farmers Dog in Burford. The info came via his girlfriend Lisa Hogan’s Instagram.

This decision came after the television personality endorsed Vice-President Kamala Harris, who was defeated in the presidential election on November 5. If her attempt to become the US 47th President had been victorious, she would have become the first woman and woman of colour to do so. In 2020, Harris snagged victory alongside the current Oval Office occupant, President Joe Biden.

The couple are believed to be selling their Moneticio mansion and instead setting up residence in the idyllic English countryside to escape Trump. The ex-Apprentice star, who ran alongside the pro-life JD Vance, is believed to be bringing in a programme of regressive policies like further limits on abortion, cuts to the Department of Education and mass deportations.

Ellen is not the only celeb to be disgusted with the American people opting for Trump over Kamala. A slew of stars have said they are leaving. Some have even taken the plunge.

America Ferrera

According to sources speaking to the Mail Online, America was said to be “sick” after voters gave an enthusiastic thumbs up to Trump. She apparently believes her fellow countrymen were “better than that”. When she was proved wrong, her disgust prompted her to consider relocating her brood to Barnes, the plush southwest London suburb. The area is known for its budding celeb community, and Hello magazine reported she was spotted touring some of its exclusive private schools.

It is unknown if she has taken the plunge. But, it is believed that America would still have a professional presence stateside.

Sharon Stone

A long-time anti-Trump voice, Sharon has hinted that Trump’s return has made her consider buying a home in Italy. Whether she will swap Tinseltown for something a little bit more Dolce Vita is not yet confirmed.

Cher

Noted and vocal progressive Cher has also suggested that a Trump win would force her to move. It is murky if that is still the plan for the showbiz icon. Last year, she told the Guardian about the health issues his previous go in power gave her. However, many of her fans love her outspoken nature. They’d be devastated to see her go.

Whoopi Goldberg

Known for never holding back about her opinions, Whoopi has used her time on the talk show The View to express her disgust for Trump. She has been doing this since he first entered politics in 2015. For a long time, she has teased a potential move to Canada. This has prompted the incoming president to share a meme reading, “Canada doesn’t want you Whoopi, NOBODY DOES.”

If she actually goes north, only time will tell.

Cardi B

In 2020, Cardi suggested that she would leave the States for the Dominican Republic if Trump won. While remaining outspoken on a number of progressive issues like women’s rights, economic justice and others, she hasn’t been so forthcoming about her desire to relocate.

Raven-Symone

Raven Symone has been saying that Canada has been calling her name since Trump’s first go. As of now, she is still living in the US. However, it is not understood whether this will still be the case for the former Disney star. Let’s maybe wait until his January inauguration.

Minnie Driver

After living in Los Angeles for nearly 30 years, Minnie already decided to return to her home country, the UK. This happened before Trump stormed to electoral success. However, she recently admitted to The Times that she has qualms about returning. After ruling out living in a Republican state, she has expressed her discomfort about living in a liberal “bubble” like Hollywood.
