Ted Lasso is a well-loved show, which is why there is excitement about a potential season 4, even though the end of season 3 was seemingly the show’s finale.

They thought it was all over – but it looks like it isn’t. Ted Lasso is expected to be confirmed for a season 4 soon – here is everything we know about Ted Lasso season 4.

But what happened at the end of season 3? Read on to find out. WARNING – spoilers ahead.

Season 3 finale recap

In the episode, Ted’s team, AFC Richmond, can win the English Premier League on the final day of the season. To do so, they need to win and hope their closest rivals draw or lose.

Meanwhile club owner Rebecca Welton is advised to sell a 49% stake in the club as its value has never been higher. However, she is thinking of selling the club entirely.

Elsewhere, Ted and Beard reveal they will be leaving the team at the end of the season to return home to the US. Rebecca tries to talk Ted round, but he is adamant.

In the game, Richmond are losing at half-time. The players reveal they kept the pieces of Ted’s iconic ‘Believe’ sign and put them back together. Galvanised by this act, the team fights back in the second half to win.

However, the result isn’t enough and Richmond finish second in the EPL. But Ted is nevertheless lauded for his efforts.

After the end of the season, Rebecca sells a 49% stake in the club to the fans, while Ted returns to the US to spend more time with his son. Beard meanwhile has a change of heart and stays in England with his girlfriend.

Potential for Ted Lasso season 4

At the time, Jason Sudeikis, who is a writer on the show and plays Ted, said that the season finale marked “the end of this story that we wanted to tell, that we were hoping to tell, that we loved to tell.”

But Apple TV+, which aired the show in the US and the UK – it was a hit on both sides of the Atlantic – didn’t describe the episode, which went out on May 31, 2023, as a series finale.

This meant the door remained open to a comeback for the series, despite the episode wrapping up arcs for many characters – especially Ted.

Since then, rumors of a return have steadily grown, with some cast members making cryptic posts on social media. Here is everything we know about Ted Lasso season 4.
