When is Stranger Things season 5 released?
After this week’s flurry of Hawkins-related updates from Next on Netflix, this question has never been higher on fans’ priority lists.
In late January, the streamer dished out some exciting new news nuggets related to The Duffer Bros. upcoming Stranger Things 5. We found out that Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) has mysteriously gone missing – and that fans can get involved in the search by calling a number listed on a promotional poster.

This nifty little Easter Egg was discovered by a fan on X. It quickly started doing the rounds on the social media channel.

While undeniably quite cool, this fun little meta perk only got fans even more eager to see Stranger Things season 5 hit Netflix.
So when will it arrive? Let’s take a look.
Stranger Things season 5 release date
According to Netflix, Stranger Things season 5 is set to be released at some point in 2025 but its exact debut date has yet to be confirmed.
Earlier this month, eagle-eyed fans spotted some potential release date information in a piece of Netflix web code that pointed towards a possible November release. This remains unconfirmed by the streamer.

Shortly afterwards, other fans suggested the show could be split into two parts, much like the release strategy for Stranger Things season 4. Internet sleuths reported release dates of October and November but like the above, this also remains unconfirmed.
Speaking to Variety, series creators The Duffer Bros. shared that they had filmed over 650 hours of footage for the show’s final season and described it as like “eight blockbuster movies.”
“We spent a full year filming this season. By the end, we’d captured over 650 hours of footage,” explained Ross Duffer. “So, needless to say, this is our biggest and most ambitious season yet. It’s like eight blockbuster movies. It’s pretty insane.”

As for its potential 2025 release date, “A lot of it hasn’t been decided, in terms of exactly the release dates and cadence,” added his brother Matt. “We’re getting on a call in about a couple weeks about it. I just know it was very important for us and Netflix that we get it out this year. But even that is quite the push.”
Despite this non-committal response, the siblings assured fans they were “working as fast as we possibly can.”
