Wicked was one of the most eagerly-awaited movies of 2024.
Starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Enviro as enemies-turned-besties Glinda and Elphaba, it is the first half of the beloved Broadway musical written by Stephen Schwartz. The second half, Wicked: For Good, is due out in November.
The stage show is based on the Gregory Maguire novel of the same name, which is a reimagining of the bits not shown in The Wizard of the Oz. The 1939 movie with Judy Garland was taken from the beloved novels by Frank. L Baum.
Wicked also featured the acting talent of Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Ethan Slater and Bowen Yang.
However, after it earned $580 million worldwide and sparked one of the most bizarre press tours of the year, many are wondering: just when can you stream it from the comfort of your own home?
When can you stream Wicked at home?
Universal Pictures confirmed that US-based fans can sit in their living rooms and stream it from 31 December, according to a press release.
For those in the UK, they will have to wait a little longer until they can get their hands on it virtually, as it is expected to drop on 3 January 2025.
It will be available to purchase on digital streaming platforms like Amazon Prime and Apple TV.
Any included bonus content?
There is a slew of additional material for you to sink your teeth into, like a sing-a-long edition of the nearly three-hour movie musical.
Additionally, there is a behind-the-scenes documentary that “celebrates the film’s transformative on-screen magic”.
There is also the option of commentary from Chu, Grande and Eviro.
Obviously, they have also included deleted scenes and extended scenes.
How much will Wicked cost to digitally purchase?
Due to it being a premium release, meaning with all the extra content, it is reported to set the card holder back $29.99. UK customers will be charged $19.99.
Is there going to be a physical release?
They are gearing up to bring out a 4K UHD Blu-ray and DVD version on 4 February 2025.
