Ted Lasso is expected to be confirmed for its fourth season soon, but who are the main characters from the first three seasons that might make a return.

.It seemed like Ted Lasso had hung up his boots for good when season 3 finished and the character returned home to the US. Indeed, it creator and star, Jason Sudeikis, has said that the show was conceived as a three-season arc. But the show has been so successful – one of Apple TV’s best-performing shows – that ever since there have been rumours that the show could come back.

Currently, it has not been confirmed that the show will return, but cast members have dropped cryptic hints in interviews and on social media recently. Here is everything we know about Ted Lasso season 4.

Ted Lasso main characters

If the show is confirmed, it is expected that many of the characters will return too. Here is a reminder of some of the main characters in Ted Lasso.

Ted Lasso (Sudeikis): Where else could we start? The titular character made his name as a coach in American Football, but was recruited by English soccer side AFC Richmond to become their manager. Despite having no experience, he took the job. Despite much scepticism from those around him – and wider – Ted gradually wins over people with his mix of optimism and compassionate approach to coaching. Helpfully, the team keep winning too.

Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham): The owner of AFC Richmond. Initially, she hires Ted as a way to sabotage the team – which had initially belonged to her philandering ex-husband. However, she comes to appreciate Ted and the club and becomes invested – in both senses – in the team’s success.

Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein): AFC Richmond’s veteran midfield linchpin and club captain is hot-headed but respected. Initially, he is hostile to Ted’s appointment, but is gradually won over by him. He later becomes an assistant coach to Ted.

Coach Willis Beard (Brendan Hunt): Ted’s longtime assistant coach and best friend, also from the US. He is more grounded than Ted and provides a counterpoint to him – but together they work well as a team. He also knows more about soccer than Ted.

Jamie Tartt (Phil Dunster): Jamie is AFC Richmond’s star striker. An up-and-coming talent, he is egotistical and a big influence in the club dressing room, but he clashes with most people around him – although his behaviour gradually changes under Ted’s leadership.

Leslie Higgins (Jeremy Swift): AFC Richmond’s director of football operations – initially promoted by Rebecca to help sabotage Ted and the club – he becomes good friends with Ted and helps towards the club’s success.

Nate Shelley (Nick Mohammad): Nate starts off as the AFC Richmond kit man, before becoming an assistant coach. He views Ted as a friend and mentor. However, their relationship sours and he ends up leaving to take up a coaching role at a rival team. However, in season 3, he rejoins AFC Richmond as assistant kitman/coach

Keeley Jones (Juno Temple): Keeley is an ex-girlfriend of Kent and Tartt, as well as a friend of Rebecca’s. She was a model but over the course of the series becomes a PR consultant and ends up setting up her own firm
