Well, it should be! But Brody has been a staple on-screen for years. He gained mainstream recognition for his role as teenage nerd Seth Cohen on the Fox teen drama The OC. Before The OC, he had a recurring role as another adorable nerd, Dave Rygalski in The WB show Gilmore Girls.

The show chronicles their relationship and the challenges of religion since Noah’s family wants him to marry a Jewish girl.
Brody has been famous for two decades and has continued to have a successful career. Read on to find out about what he’s been in, his acting career, and his marriage to Meester.
Who is Adam Brody?
Adam Jared Brody was born on December 15, 1979, in San Diego, California. He is the oldest child of Valerie Jill and Mark Alan Brody. He has two younger twin brothers. Like his character, Brody is Jewish on both his parents’ sides.
The OC star Wangenheim Middle School and Scripps Ranch High School. When was young, he wasn’t interested in acting, unlike Meester. In high school, he spent time surfing and wasn’t very academic. However, when he was 19, he moved to Hollywood to try to become an actor.
Acting career

Brody was lucky, he had his acting success from a young age. In 2000 he landed the role of Barry Williams in the TV film Growing Up Brady. After that, he starred in The Sausage Factory and had a small role in American Pie 2 in 2001. His breakthrough came in 2002 when he landed a recurring role on the third season of Gilmore Girls as Lane Kim’s love interest, Dave Rygalski. The following year, he was cast in his breakthrough role as Seth Cohen in The OC. It is believed he was written out of Gilmore Girls to take on this role.
The role of Seth Cohen shot him to instant stardom and helped to redefine the character trope of the nerd. He played this role from 2003 until 2007. Also a huge part of Brody’s life during this time was his The OC co-star Rachel Bilson, who he dated for three years until 2006. Brody and Bilson played love interests on the show, and their characters were endgame.
During and after The OC
He had a small role in the film Mr and Mrs Smith which starred Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. In 2007 he had a leading role in the rom-com Land of Women where he played a writer who returns to his hometown to take care of his grandmother. This role was specifically made for Brody, and the director pushed back filming so he could star. At the time, he was filming season 2 of The OC.
His first film roles after The OC were in Smiley Face and The Ten in 2007. In 2009 he joined another teen cult classic, Jennifer’s Body. He played Nikolai Wolf, the lead singer of a band who is a secret Satanist. In 2010 he starred in Cop Out and The Romantics.
2011 came around and he starred in The Oranges alongside Meester, his future wife. They began dating sometime in 2013, married the following year, and had two children in 2015 and 2020.
What other roles did Adam Brody have?
In 2012 he began experiencing more mainstream success (away from the teen dramas). Brody joined Lovelace, a biopic about late pornstar Linda Lovelace. The actor played a porn director in the movie. Then he starred alongside his wife in the film Life Partners in 2014.
Brody took a year break, maybe because his son was born in 2015. He returned to acting in 2016 starring in the drama series Start Up. He had a role-playing older Freddy Freeman in the superhero film Shazam! in 2019 and Shazam! Fury of the Gods in 2023. Also in 2019, he started in the eight-part drama Curfew, which follows the outbreak of a mysterious virus across the United Kingdom. (Coronavirus, anyone?)
Leading up to 2024 Brody was cast as Noah in Nobody Wants This. His performance in the series earned him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Television Series Musical or Comedy.

Music and more
Like his wife, Brody has dabbled in music. In 2005 he co-formed the rock band Big Japan. Brody was the drummer in the band. The band released some music under the name Music For Dummies in 2005.
Since 2010 he has played drums for a different band The Shortcoats which has released several EPs.
Outside of music, Brody co-wrote DC’s Wildstorm Comics titled Red Menace in 2007 and writes screenplays in his screen time.
He doesn’t have any other upcoming projects, but we will keep you updated on his role in Nobody Wants This season 2.
