- Wicked went down a storm when it was released in theaters on November 22, 2024

- Viewers will be able to watch Wicked on Peacock from March 21

Wicked took the world by storm when it was released on November 22 last year.
And now fans can look forward to enjoying the movie-musical from the comfort of their own homes – as a date has finally been set for the film to debut on streaming services.
Wicked – which earned Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande Oscar nominations for their roles as Elphaba and Glinda in the picture – will begin streaming exclusively on Peacock from March 21.
Not only that, but fans will also be able to access the Sing-Along version, as well as other bonus content.
Wicked made a worldwide gross of more than $727 million at the box office – making it the biggest Broadway adaptation of all-time globally.
Wicked previously broke digital release records

While this is the first time fans will be able to watch the movie on a streaming service, Wicked has been available to rent or buy at home from December 31.
Priced at $30 to buy and $20 to rent, it was reported that the movie had broken records on its first week of digital release.
Universal stated that the film took $26 million on its first day of release for video-on-demand in the US and Canada, and that rose to $70 million by the end of its first week.
They added that Wicked’s takings in its first day and week are the largest for any Universal theatrical title. It also smashed the previous Universal record, which was the $44 million The Super Mario Bros movie took in 2023.
Cynthia Erivo to host Tony Awards

That wasn’t the only big news Wicked and its cast had to share this week.
It has been announced that Erivo would host this year’s Tony Awards.
Held on June 8, Erivo revealed, “I am so proud and excited to take on this glorious honour. I am looking forward to ushering the theatre community at large through a night that celebrates the wonderful performances we have witnessed throughout the year.”
She added, “I hope I can rise to the occasion.”
The honor will be a full-circle moment for Erivo – as she won a Tony herself in 2016 for her leading performance in a Broadway production of the musical The Color Purple.
Erivo also won an Emmy and a Grammy for her role as Celie in the show.
