She first starred on the show 17 years ago.
But now Selena Gomez is ready to return to her roots – as the spin-off to Wizards of Waverly Place is set to hit our screens!
Titled Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, this week, fans were treated to two first-look images from the show, which will see Gomez, 31, return as a grown-up Alex Russo. Disney is also making waves by bundling Disney, Hulu, and Max together.
David Henry, 34, will also reprise his role as her brother Justin, and the new cast will see Mimi Gianopulos, Alkaio Thiele and Max Matenko feature as his wife and two children, Giada, Roman and Milo.
In the sequel show, Justin has chosen to live a ‘normal’ life with his new family – until Alex shows up with Billie, played by Janice LeAnn Brown, who needs their help. He must then dust off his magical skills to mentor the wizard-in-training while also juggling his everyday responsibilities — and safeguarding the future of the Wizard World.
Taylor Cora will also join the series’ regular cast as Winter, Billie’s oversharing best friend.
Some Disney fans have had unexpected surprises, like a family who bought $10,000 in gift cards for Disneyland, only to discover they were for Disney+.
Set to premiere later this year on Disney Channel and Disney+, Gomez revealed in February this year, “It’s gonna be really fun. I was excited to bring the characters back. It’s not a reboot. It’s going to be a different version, I guess, so I’m excited for you guys to see it.”
‘She inspires me’
That’s not all Gomez has to celebrate though.
Her boyfriend Benny Blanco has opened up about their relationship – and how he sees a bright future ahead for them.
While they’ve only been dating for a year, the songwriter, 36, told Howard Stern in an interview that he predicts marriage between the pair, but that he’s “got to get [my] act together!”
Blanco also opened up about wanting children with the Come & Get It singer.
“That’s like my next goal on the box. I have a lot of God kids, I’ve got a ton of nephews. It’s my thing, I love being around kids!” he revealed.
Blanco continued, “’I don’t know a world where it could be better than this. She’s the coolest, the nicest, the sweetest, like, everything.
“She’s truly just like my best friend. We laugh all f***ing day. She inspires me.”
