WrestleMania 41 weekend kicked off in Las Vegas with night one of WWE’s biggest show of the year taking place at Allegiant Stadium in front of a crowd of over 50,000 fans.

The event is a history making one as it is the first WrestleMania to be streamed live on Netflix. Heading into the first night, all eyes were on the main event, billed as ‘the biggest triple threat match of all time’ between CM Punk, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins.

However, the headlines were being grabbed from the opening bout, with ‘Main Event’ Jey Uso capturing his first World Heavyweight Championship after defeating Gunther in an emotionally charged title match which had the capacity crowd inside Allegiant Stadium coming unglued.

A New World Champion Crowned

Unsurprisingly, the event was the top trend worldwide across social media, with the Showcase of the Immortals generating the usual impassioned reactions from WWE fans.

Once the three count had been hit in Tiffany Stratton’s successful title defence against Charlotte Flair, all eyes then turned to the main event between Punk, Reigns and Rollins.

The bout between the three longstanding rivals had its roots in 2012, when Reigns and Rollins formed The Shield, alongside Dean Ambrose (now All Elite Wrestling’s Jon Moxley) and served as Punk’s protective unit upon their debuts on the WWE’s main roster.

In the intervening 13 years, relationships between the three have noticeably soured via all manner of twists, turns and betrayals. All of which came to a suitably dramatic head in a chaotic main event.
