WrestleMania content performing big numbers on social media should come as no surprise to anyone, given WWE’s marquee event is regularly the top trend worldwide every year it’s on. However, Scottish superstar Drew McIntyre took things to a new level at WrestleMania 41, tonight.

McIntyre – a former WWE and World Heavyweight Champion – faced off against longtime rival Damian Priest in a match dubbed as a Sin City Street Fight (no holds barred).

During the match, with McIntyre in charge of proceedings on the outside of the ring, he was handed a cell phone, snapping a selfie before quickly tapping a few words and handing it back to his friend in the crowd.

McIntyre’s Selfie Rematch Goes Viral

A second later, the Glaswegian was racking up thousands upon thousands of reposts and likes on X, with a post captioned “Still bored at work lol”. The post was a reference to an almost identical one McIntyre shared at WrestleMania 40. During his World Heavyweight Championship victory over Seth Rollins, McIntyre had posted “bored at work lol”.

Drew McIntyre – Over Four Million Views and Counting

At the time of writing (and it’s still flying, so bear with me as I type this) the post has over 4.4m views. It also has 70,000 reposts. Oh, and almost a quarter of a million likes. In less than an hour. It had 58,000 reposts and 165,000 likes in less than 15 minutes.

McIntyre would emerge victorious in his match with Priest, culminating a year long feud between the pair. Priest memorably gatecrashed McIntyre’s World Heavyweight Championship victory last year by cashing in his Money In The Bank contract after CM Punk had attacked McIntyre post-match.

Following Priest’s cash-in, the pair would meet again. In McIntyre’s hometown of Glasgow, Scotland, no less. However, McIntyre would once again be thwarted by CM Punk. And Priest left with the title again.

As if that wasn’t enough, CM Punk’s one man campaign to keep Drew McIntyre from becoming World Champion again continued a month later. When McIntyre attempted to perform his own Money In The Bank cash-in on Priest. Punk was there to prevent it being a success.
