Sony has teased the debut of a new 28 Years Later trailer. Already, die-hard horror fans are eagerly awaiting their next look at their “movie of the year”.

The X account for director Danny Boyle’s new horror sequel discreetly posted a YouTube link in the early hours of Wednesday 16 April. Once clicked, it takes fans to a holding page for the movie’s new trailer, which is set to premiere on 17 April 2025.

In the meantime, fans are met with a short but creepy holding video. Lasting around a minute and 40 seconds, it shows the 28 Years Later biohazard logo intercut with random snippets of chaos and mayhem.

The whole thing is soundtracked to the same eerie spoken word track that featured in the sequel’s first, record-breaking trailer which was released earlier this year.

Wondering what that is? It’s a poem called Boots by Rudyard Kipling, first published in a 1903 collection called Five Nations. It details the drudging monotony and brutality of war – and perfectly suited Boyle’s bloodthirsty world.

Despite having a good few hours to wait before they can actually watch the new 28 Years Later trailer, fans are already eagerly anticipating its arrival.

The YouTube holding page shows numerous people waiting for its debut, with many of them sharing their excitement for Boyle’s sequel in the comments.

“SO EXCITED” says the top comment in all caps. They even posted the fire emoji to hit home their giddiness.

“LETS GOOOOO,” shouted another.

“The most anticipated horror of 2025 and arguably this decade is edging closer to its release, and we are all here for it,” said a third.

Meanwhile, one commenter predicted that 28 Years Later will be their “MOVIE OF THE YEAR.”

Record breaking first trailer

The first teaser trailer for 28 Years Later dropped in late 2024 and become a massive hit with horror fans. In fact, it ended up becoming the most watched horror trailer of the year. Cut to April 2025 and the trailer has a mammoth 24 million views.

28 Years Later will pick up years after Boyle’s 2002 horror movie about a virus that transforms its hosts into undead hoards caught in a constant state of rage.

It will feature Aaron Taylor Johnson, Jodi Comer and Ralph Fiennes, with original movie screenwriter Alex Garland returning to write the script. It’s set to be released theatrically on 20 June 2025.
