However, when a journey to the mainland goes wrong, all hell breaks loose. Soon, a new threat emerges that risks bringing down the peace, as new characters enter their world. Some with better intentions than others.
This new teaser starts with a nail-biting few seconds featuring some army soldiers in a dark space. Suddenly they’re attached by what appears to be a feral human – although it’s unclear whether he’s infected with the Rage virus.

This tall figure has been noticed before in the movie’s first trailer – a collection of eerie clips that went on to become the most watched horror movie teaser of 2024.
28 Years Later trailer: What happens?

Elsewhere in the trailer, we get a slightly better look some mysterious new characters in Boyle and Garland’s film.
Ralph Fiennes plays someone who appears to be part of some kind of bone cult. He’s seen lingering around huge piles of skulls and can be heard in the trailer discussing different forms of death.
“There are many kinds of death,” he tells what appears to be Jodi Comer’s character, “and some are better than others.” Don’t be fooled by his calm and collective tone: we’re not too sure he’s survived the Rage apocalypse with his sanity intact.
When is 28 Years Later released?

28 Years Later will be released theatrically on 20 June 2025.
The movie will be followed by a sequel, with 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple set to debut just a few months later in January 2026.
This time, The Marvels director Nia Da Costa will take the helm, with Boyle expected to return to the director’s chair for the franchises’s third segment.
Meanwhile, Cillian Murphy – who played 28 Days Later hero Jim – has yet to be seen in this continuation of Boyle’s Rage-fuelled world.
