Nobody Wants This Season 2 isn’t something that nobody wants, because everyone wants it! The Netflix comedy became a hit when it premiered in September 2024. The feel-good nature of the show and the chemistry between its stars Adam Brody and Kristen Bell captivated fans. The show is about sex podcaster Joanne (Bell) and her sudden change of luck as she meets a newly single hot rabbi Noah (Brody). The problem? Joanne isn’t Jewish.

Success on Netflix

In its first week on streaming, it racked up 15.9 million viewers and took over Netflix lists. Soon after it premiered, it was renewed for a second season in October 2024, much to the delight of fans. Maybe it’s the Brody and Bell effect. Brody is best known for playing Seth Cohen in the 2000s teen drama The OC. Bell is best known for starring as Veronica Mars in the show of the same name and starring in NBC’s The Good Place.

Speaking on the show, creator Erin Foster told Netflix: “Creating Nobody Wants This will forever be a career highlight for me. The incredible cast, crew, producers, and executives all made this into the show it is today, and to experience viewers’ reactions to this series now that it’s out in the world has been more than anything I could have dreamed.”

Nobody Wants This Season 2 recently announced some new additions to the cast. Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester (and Brody’s wife) will join season 2 alongside new cast members. With a new cast announced and a little insight into season 2, here is what we want to happen when it comes.

What do we want to see in Nobody Wants This season 2?

1. More of Joanne and Noah’s relationship

Joanne and Noah are the highlight of Nobody Wants This. The way they meet is so natural, like Bridget Jones and Mark Darcy in Bridget Jones’ Diary. Entering a party, Joanne and Noah strike up a conversation, a flirty one at that. Instantly the two have chemistry, but religion comes in the way when Noah reveals he is a rabbi.

Although this is a theme throughout Season 1, it ends hopefully with a kiss between Joanne and Noah. However, this kiss is kind of ambiguous, you can interpret it as a goodbye or as a kiss to promise their future. Brody interpreted the kiss as Noah telling Joanne, “I put you first. Everything else will work itself out, but I’m saying that you are my priority.”

Therefore we must see their relationship grow in season 2. If they aren’t back together, it could be interesting to see the two pining for each other. We’re not talking about a four-season-long Luke and Lorelai story, but a bit of angst would be nice. In whatever fashion the writers choose, we want to see more of them.

2. The context of Joanne and Abby’s past

This plotline is almost a given for Nobody Wants This season 2, but we want to see Abby and Joanne’s past. In February 2025 it was announced that Meester was cast in season 2. In season 2 Meester is playing Joanne’s “middle school nemesis” named Abby, a mommy blogger/influencer. Oh no, break out the Blair Waldorf energy.

Since she’s described as Joanne’s childhood nemesis, we want to know why. Why did Abby and Joanne not get along? If the show delves deep into that dynamic it would explain the current dynamic of the two as adults. Did Abby bully Joanne, or was it over something silly?

The reason may not matter but it could reflect how Joanne sees Abby now when she’s in her thirties. Additionally, it could shed light on what Abby will do in season two. Will she go after Noah, or try to torment Joanne? It’s worth considering!

3. The repercussions of Noah’s relationship with Joanne

After kissing Joanne, it seems that Noah wants to prioritize his relationship with her. Season 2 should explore the professional repercussions of this. We know Noah’s family dislikes Joanne because she isn’t Jewish, but the professional side isn’t explored much. Noah was up for a big promotion, so we should see how this is tackled in season 2.

Speaking at the SAG Awards, Brody revealed to Deadline it will be addressed, although he knows “very little” about season 2. When asked about the details of season 2, he said: “I think repercussions from [Noah] choosing maybe love over work. He’s going to grapple with that.”

Watching Noah struggle to choose or balance his passion with his love life will be fascinating. It is a classic conflict in relationship-centered films. The 2023 Netflix thriller Fair Play explores this with a couple in a relationship both working at a hedgefund chasing the same job role.

4. More of Joanne’s podcast, Nobody Wants This

The point of season 1 was to establish Joanne’s podcast which shares the same title as the show. Joanne talking about her unconventional relationship with Noah brings in listeners. Seeing more of Joanne podcasting about her dating life on Nobody Wants would be great to contextualize the podcast’s growth and the Spotify deal. This could also lead to potential plot lines for Abby.

As Abby is a mommy blogger, she could publicly criticize Joanne’s podcast in a review or a post. Her old nemesis disparaging her could be a professional conflict for Joanne and the podcast. In turn, this plotline would give Joanne a storyline outside of her relationship with Noah and introduce her dynamic with Abby.

5. Noah and Sasha’s relationship development

Sasha (Timothy Simmons) is Noah’s older brother who is married and has two children. He is a bit of a pillar in their local Jewish community. However, Sasha has a bit of a moral crisis (and a religious one) himself. He strikes up a friendship with Joanne’s sister Morgan (Justine Lupe) that could be more. In season 2 it would make a good point of conflict between Noah and Sasha if the writers choose to go down the affair route.

Despite the potential of this story, it seems Morgan is getting a new love interest. Miles Fowler is playing a teammate of Noah’s, Lenny, in season 2 who “gets set up with Morgan”.

Additionally, this could also make Noah and Joanne’s relationship complicated because of the potential affair between Sasha and Morgan. Season 1 showed a healthy dynamic between the brothers. Sasha supports Joanne and Noah’s relationship although he is married to a Jewish woman Esther (Jackie Tohn).

The potential for an affair could ruin the dynamics built in season 1, but the fallout between Sasha and Noah would be juicy.
