- Logan Paul said he would ‘kill’ Tyson after Jake Paul fight
- Showdown between Paul and Tyson could happen at WWE’s WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas, next year
- Tyson is a WWE Hall of Famer while Logan Paul is a former WWE United States Champion
Mike Tyson may not be done with the Paul brothers just yet. The former Heavyweight Champion of the world could be set to tie up with Logan Paul, after suffering a points decision loss to younger brother Jake in a boxing match in Dallas, last week. Only this time, the ring hosting the bout would be a WWE one.
Tyson is a WWE Hall of Famer, inducted for his part in helping bring in the Attitude Era to WWE back in the late ’90s – a move that helped the then WWF turn the tide in their Monday night ratings war with WCW. Paul, meanwhile, has spent the best part of the last three years as a part-time in-ring performer with the company, winning their United States Title, last year. The YouTuber defeated Rey Mysterio for the title before dropping the championship to LA Knight at this year’s SummerSlam.
During the post-fight interviews following his loss to Jake Paul, Tyson was asked what was next for him, to which ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ jokingly mentioned that maybe he would go after Logan Paul next. Paul, looking confused at Tyson’s answer, said he would ‘kill’ the former Heavyweight Champion.
While Paul’s comments drew a lot of criticism, as did the Netflix fight from the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, it would appear that there is interest in making the contest a reality. Albeit not in a boxing ring.
In the aftermath of the Tyson-Paul fight, rumours began to swirl surrounding a match involving Logan, with well renowned WWE backstage news supplier WrestleVotes commenting on the situation during a Backstage Pass Q&A when asked, “Could we see something between Logan Paul and Mike Tyson at WrestleMania?”
WrestleVotes replied, “I did some digging after what we saw Friday night. I was able to get a source confirm to me there’s interest. I don’t know anything other than that…There’s interest I would say all the way around, just because it makes so much sense.”
Speaking with Forbes in May, 2023, Tyson spoke about the possibility of facing Paul in a WWE ring, saying, “When I see [Logan Paul] looking good and doing well, I always stick up for him because when he makes all the money himself, I get the credit, too. Because without me he would have never had a platform.
“Have you ever seen me wrestle before? I would do it! I would kick his [expletive] ass, yes I would do it. Even though I love him, though. This is what I found out about WrestleMania: Everybody says ‘that’s fake, that’s fake.’ But the check is real. Deep down inside—don’t let [WWE] know—I would do this for free.”
With WWE’s WrestleMania 41 taking place in Las Vegas, next April, it would make sense, should a celebrity match be on the cards, to utilise Tyson in that role against Paul given Iron Mike’s history in Sin City. Hopefully we would be treated to a far more entertaining bout than we were in Dallas, last week.
