It’s one of the most talked about movies of the year.

And as fans flocked to watch Wicked in theaters across the world this weekend, one question was on everyone’s lips by the end – when can we watch the second installment?

Adapted from the Broadway musical of the same name, director Jon M. Chu felt the plot was too rich to cram it into a singular film – so (lucky for us fans) the movie has been split into two halves.

But when will we be able to watch Wicked Part 2, and what is it about? Pubity.com takes a look…

When will Wicked Part 2 be released?

Although the first part was only released on November 22, we’re already counting down the days to the second movie’s release date.

According to Universal Pictures, Wicked Part 2 will hit theaters on November 21, 2025.

What is the official title for Wicked Part 2?

In an announcement on December 16, it was revealed that the official title for the second movie is Wicked: For Good.

The change references the duet between Elphaba and Glinda, in which they sing about how their relationship has impacted their lives forever.

When will Wicked Part 2 begin filming?

According to Forbes, both the first and second parts of Wicked were shot back-to-back between December 2022 and January 2024.

This means the second installment of Wicked has already been filmed – exciting!

What is the movie about?

Leaving off from when the first movie ended – after Cynthia Erivo’s stunning rendition of Defying Gravity – Wicked Part 2 will follow the stage show and begin at its second act.

Set in the Land of Oz, before and after Dorothy Gale’s arrival from Kansas, the plot will follow Elphaba and Galinda’s friendship being put to the test as they embrace their new respective identities as the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good – and how the consequences of their actions will change all of Oz forever.

Who will star in Wicked Part 2?

The first part of Wicked consists of a glittering lineup of our favorite stars – and they’re all set to feature again in the second movie.

Elphaba will be played by Tony winner Cynthia Erivo, while Ariana Grande – the recipient of two Grammy awards – will star as Galinda. They are now known throughout Oz as the characters we know and love: the Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda the Good.

Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey is set to once more take on the role of Fiyero – Glinda’s fiancee, who is now Captain of the Wizards Guard – and Jeff Goldblum will be the Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Other cast members include Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, the former Headmistress of Shiz University and now the press secretary to the Wizard; newcomer Marissa Bode as Nessarose, Elphaba’s sister and the Wicked Witch of the East; Broadway star Ethan Slater as Boq Woodsman, a Munchkin who is Nessarose’s servant and who is in love with Galinda; and Peter Dinklage as the voice of Doctor Dillamond, a goat (yes, you read that right) and a History professor at the university.

Is there a trailer for Wicked Part 2?

As of yet, there is no trailer for Wicked Part 2 – but we’ll be sure to update this page once it’s available.

Where can we watch the first part of Wicked?

Musical fans are in luck – as the first part of Wicked is currently screening in theaters across the globe!

The movie was released on November 22 – so is expected to stick around in cinemas for a while, before moving to streaming services.
