She’s the pint-sized pop star who had a huge summer – but Sabrina Carpenter has now proven she’s a performer for all seasons!
The singer, 25, debuted her Netflix holiday special on December 6.
Titled A Nonsense Christmas, Carpenter sang a variety of her own hits in the show – as well as performing duets and comedy sketches with other famous faces.
Among those to perform with the Espresso hitmaker was Chappell Roan – and, of course, fans went wild for their rendition of Wham!’s Last Christmas.
“You will never get me to shut up about Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan,” wrote one fan, while another added, “WE LOVE TWO (2) FIVE FOOT NOTHING QUEENS.”
Another asked, “HOW DO WE GET CHAPPELL ROAN’S AND SABRINA CARPENTER’S VERSION OF LAST CHRISTMAS ON SPOTIFY RIGHT NOW?”
‘She’s secured the December royalty cheque!’
Elsewhere, fans labelled Carpenter “a star” and hailed the special as “the smartest career move she’s made”.
“Especially with her [Short n’ Sweet] tour taking a break between legs, her team is genius,” they added, referencing the gap between the US and European legs of her first arena tour.
“I absolutely love how Sabrina is handling her career, it’s so fun and fresh, the creativity,” said one. Another added, “It’s refreshing how her team seem to understand exactly what they need to do to get/keep her commercially successful without it feeling too forced. I love how it seems all fun and nothing seriously work/tedious for her.”
Others had Carpenter gunning for Mariah Carey’s title as the Queen of Christmas.
“She’s going down that Mariah Carey route to secure the December streams and I love to see it,” applauded one, as another added, “Sabrina’s royalty cheque every December is now secured.”
Celebrities praise Carpenter
It wasn’t just the fans who had high praise for Carpenter – as her celebrity guests also made their opinions clear!
Country legend Shania Twain was one of the stars to be featured on the show.
“What do you say when @SabrinaCarpenter calls you up and asks if you want to sing a Christmas song together? Obviously you say, ‘Sure, I would love to sing with you Sabrina!’” she told her Instagram followers
“When I tell you I had the most fun shooting A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina I’m not exaggerating, she is so funny, I basically spent the entire shoot laughing! You can watch our cute duet together tonight.”
Carpenter reciprocated the love, and commented, “I adore you Shania!!!!!”
South African singer Tyla also shared a post about the holiday special.
“A nonsense Christmas out now on @netflix. Thnks @sabrinacarpenter. HAPPY HOLIDAYS TYGERRRZ,” she told her 9.7 million Instagram followers, referencing their fandom name.
And although she was missing from the holiday special, fans are begging Carpenter to work with another very funny superstar.
“I need Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter to just do an SNL run together or like… do their own comedy thing THEY WOULD BE HILARIOUS TOGETHER THEIR COMEDIC TIMING IS IMPECCABLE,” they begged.
