Ubisoft has officially confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the next installment in its iconic series, will offer players a prolonged experience which they have been missing since the ending of games like Odyssey and Valhalla.

The Saga Resurrected

Although Assassin’s Creed Mirage released later on, its concise gameplay couldn’t make up for the demand of expansive gameplay style. The announcement came during a Reddit AMA with Jonathan Dumont, the creative director of Shadows and other community developers.

When asked about the length of the main story, Dumont stated,

“ The length of the game is always hard to evaluate in an open world game as different players will have very different ways to consume the content. I think Shadows’ main journey is comparable to Origins/Odyssey and Valhalla.”

This implies players can gear up for an epic journey spanning roughly 30–60 hours, depending on how they move through the story. This reddit session Q&A session has provided details on the game’s significant aspects. Furthermore, Speaking of the choices, Jonathan mentioned:

“As for choices, they are present, and some have an impact but play less of a branching role than on Odyssey on the core narrative.”

Immersive Feudal Japan Awaits

As Shadows is set in feudal Japan, one of the reddit users asked how developers managed to “ recreate an authentic representation of the culture?” In reply to this Thierry responded,

“Yes, we traveled to Japan and conducted a field trip with experts and historians to gather as much information as possible about the game’s setting and locations. History has always been the foundation of Assassin’s Creed, and visiting the actual locations always enhances our work, just as our trip to Greece for AC Odyssey did.”

It will take players to the transformative era of Japanese history when the country was under the leadership of Oda Nobunaga—Minister of Right in Japan (1534-1582). They will get to step into the Azuchi-Momoyama period and navigate this timeline through two protagonists—Naoe and Yasuke.

All these details have generated thrill among the fans who have been missing spending hours in the Assassin’s Creed games. Now they won’t have to be worried about a quick ending and can enjoy the upcoming installment for a longer period. It will be released on February 14, 2025, for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
